Be an engineer in year one The first-year introductory course to engineering immerses you in the college and its majors, builds community among students and faculty, and engages you in hands-on engineering design and innovation.

Visit our Engineering Student Support & Services (ES3) Professional advisors will empower you to achieve success through the development of educational plans consistent with academic, personal, and professional goals; navigate academic challenges; and enhance your academics through experiential learning opportunities.

My work on my senior capstone project taught me how to solve problems using research methods coupled with real-world examples to accomplish never before seen results. Working as a team allows for a wider wealth of knowledge to solve these complex problems.“ Ross Jacques ’21 - BS Mechanical Engineering

Engage in engineering design with community impact Engineering and computer science education culminates in a yearlong capstone project where you will work in teams with a mentor on real-world, industry-specific challenges with our partners in industry and government.

Contribute to cutting-edge research endeavors Under the mentorship of a faculty member, you will have unique opportunities to participate in advanced research and cutting-edge technologies to develop new knowledge. This will enrich your educational experience and open doors to permanent employment and graduate studies upon graduation.

Obtain industry experience Our faculty and career professionals will advise you on obtaining an internship in industry or government labs. This hands-on professional experience will increase your career potential while you earn academic credit and financial support for your education. Our students have interned at sites such as: • Bose Corporation

• NASA

• Dell EMC

• National Grid

• eBay

• Naval Undersea Warfare Center

• Harvard Center for Astrophysics

• Pratt & Whitney

• Hewlett-Packard

• Titleist

• Johnson & Johnson

Build your network An array of student groups is available to you, from major-specific to multi-disciplinary organizations. Become involved and you will make professional connections that further impact your career.

I would not be where I am today had I not attended UMass Dartmouth. The most impressive aspect is the opportunity to work on real-life projects alongside practicing professional engineers, from the initial proposal stages all the way through full project design. Lauren E. Underwood ’13 -B S Civil Engineering Senior Project Engineer | Associate Environmental Partners

Become an entrepreneur Our faculty foster a creative and innovative environment to prepare you for engineering design and product development. The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship offers workshops and competitions to students interested in translating their novel designs into commercial products.

It’s amazing that there were so many chances to meet with experts and work alongside them in and out of classes. Their readiness to help had a huge impact on my educational career, which transferred over to my new career. Melanie Luperon ’21 - CPE, Cybersecurity

Study abroad An international experience is essential for students who will be creating technologies to tackle global challenges. The College of Engineering is expanding study abroad opportunities for our students by partnering more closely with our study abroad program providers and integrating these opportunities into the curriculum.
