Welcome, Corsairs! We’re excited to welcome you to campus! Over the course of the next four days, you’ll attend academic sessions to prepare for the difference between high school and college, familiarize yourself with campus and university services, and participate in social activities. CWGS is a voice for women and the LGBTQ+ community, with the purpose of eliminating barriers, diminishing prejudices, and creating a supportive climate and space for all. Our mission is to offer resources and support on LGBTQ and women’s issues. In addition, we coordinate campus initiatives to prevent sexual assault and intimate partner violence. The CWGS recognizes that investigations of gender must take place in tandem with explorations of race, class, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression and other significant aspects of individual identity. As a department of Student Affairs, the Center also acts as a central coordinating agency for campus and community groups.

COUNSELING CENTER

We offer primarily short-term counseling and will help students initiate referrals to community-based services when students need specialized or longer term services. Services are provided by licensed psychologists, licensed social workers, and advanced unlicensed doctoral trainees under close supervision of our licensed staff. Services include individual counseling, group counseling, workshops, and 24-hr crisis service.

We support students by ensuring they understand all options and responsibilities to maximize their aid eligibility. FAS is staffed with professionals who are committed to finding a plan that fits every family’s unique situation. Aid is available in the form of grants, scholarships, tuition credit, loans, and/or part-time employment to help defray educational expenses. Students must submit the FAFSA to be considered. FAS staff are always available to assist with all financial aid inquiries and needs. FAS also hosts Financial Aid Labs every Friday (except holidays) from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.

The Mail Room is a full-service mail operation and provides delivery of U.S. Mail, campus mail, and package delivery from all major couriers. The University Mail and Package Center is located on the ground floor of the Campus Center. Packages can be picked up from the self-service package locker banks located next to the Mail and Package Center.
