Empowering educated and engaged citizens With our faculty-designed Educated and Engaged Citizen curriculum as a cornerstone, UMass Dartmouth is re-engineering co-curricular programs to equip every student with the agile mindset necessary to compete and thrive in a rapidly changing, hyper-connected world.

Focusing research energy on community needs Interdisciplinary research initiatives focused on university strengths– marine and environmental science, homeland security, and community engagement are connecting faculty from different fields to address regional, statewide, and national challenges.

Building a Blue Economy Fueled by a $600,000 federal EDA grant and matching funds from the Commonwealth and private donors, UMass Dartmouth and the SouthCoast Development Partnership are leading efforts to organize, develop and market a Blue Corridor across the SouthCoast.

Leveraging university facility upgrades UMass Law students have delivered more than 100,000 hours of pro bono legal assistance and community service.

The university’s $134 million housing and dining complex, now under construction, is designed to transform the student living and learning experience when it opens in fall 2020. The project will also create 150 construction jobs and 400,000 people hours of work. The university is also planning a $50 million renovation of its Science and Engineering Building.
