Learning and living At UMass Dartmouth You’ll learn. You’ll bond. You’ll have fun with friends and professors. One of the more enduring aspects of your UMass Dartmouth education involves the forming of lifelong friendships. UMassD has more than 4,000 students living on campus in 14 residence halls. We offer traditional rooms and suites, apartments and townhouses, and even an integrated living/ learning community just for transfer students. Everybody needs to eat and we have plenty of options on campus. From pizza to stir-fry, sandwiches to salads– there are 14 venues on campus, some open as late as 2 a.m.
Beyond Ring Road Our academic campus is enclosed by Ring Road, but your education is not. Internships, study abroad, research, and community service experiences will build on your classroom knowledge and prepare you for the future.

Whether you live on campus or commute, you’ll find you belong here. The resources you need ACCESSIBILITY The Center for Access and Success provides tools that help our students excel. Services include peer note taking, alternative testing arrangements, sign language interpretation, and advising. WELLNESS UMass Dartmouth’s Health Services is an outpatient facility that evaluates and treats minor problems and helps students with chronic health problems. We also offer access to student health insurance, if you need it. TRANSPORTATION You are allowed to have a car on campus. We also offer the DART shuttle, which makes regular stops all over campus and to popular shopping locations. City buses can take you to New Bedford and Fall River, and a bus can take you from campus to Boston on a daily basis. We also have several Zipcars on campus.

Transferring previous coursework MassTransfer for Massachusetts community college graduates If you have an associate’s degree from any Massachusetts public community college, you may be eligible for MassTransfer: • No application fee • Guaranteed admission to UMassD if you have a 2.5 GPA • 100% tuition waiver if you have a cumulative GPA over 3.0 • Automatic satisfaction of all general education requirements except two upper-level courses
Your application fee is waived when using the Joint Admissions Intent to Enroll form [umassd.edu/transfer/jointadmissions], and accepted students can register at the same time as UMass Dartmouth juniors.

Joint Admissions agreements guarantee your acceptance to UMass Dartmouth if you complete your associate’s degree and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher from the following schools:

Transferable credits Transferable credits are college/universitylevel credits taken at a regionally accredited institution with content equivalent to a course or appropriate to a curriculum offered at UMass Dartmouth. Courses taken at institutions not holding regional accreditation will be evaluated independently and on a course-by-course basis. • Most vocational or non-college level courses are not transferable. • Only credits from courses with a “C-“ or higher grade will transfer and appear on the UMassD transcript. •
The number of college credits that can be applied towards your bachelor’s degree varies depending upon the requirements of your degree major.

In order to receive a bachelor’s degree from UMassD, transfer students must complete at least 45 credits of coursework at UMassD; and at least 30 of those UMassD credits must be advanced and specialized.
•
If a transfer course has been taken more than once at another institution, UMassD will accept the best grade awarded to the student for that course.

Application deadlines
Scholarships and financial aid
A transfer applicant must be a high school graduate or GED recipient who has earned college credits from an accredited college or university.
Fall enrollment: We recommend a March 1 deadline, but do accept and review applications on a rolling basis.
Merit scholarships are available for outstanding transfer students for the fall and spring semesters.
Spring enrollment: We recommend a December 1 deadline, but do accept and review applications on a rolling basis.
Scholarships are based on your application and are renewable. Priority is given to those who apply by March 1 for fall enrollment and December 1 for spring enrollment.

Transfer students are also eligible for need-based financial aid. Students who apply for aid must submit the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA).
