My Life’s Journey: An Evening with CS Lewis Veteran British actor David Payne will bring the famed author C.S. Lewis to life by enacting a one-sided living room conversation with a group of American writers set in 1963 in Lewis’ home near Oxford, England. The audience will experience Lewis’ engaging personality and spontaneous humor and hear of the people and events that inspired his thought and shaped his life. The performance takes place in the twilight years of the life of the renowned British author and Christian apologist. With a display of oratory and humor that made him one of England’s most famous public speakers, Payne as C.S. Lewis recounts the significant events and the people that shaped his life, including how he went from atheism to Christianity. Aural Vision: Art Inspired By Sound This performance collaboration is the result of two artists from different disciplines finding points of commonality in the language of art. Aural Vision brings the world of piano performance and the process of painting together. The program content is inspired by the Chilean unity anthem The People United Will Never Be Defeated. UMHB pianist Kathryn Fouse will perform Frederic Rzewski’s 36 stirring and challenging variations on this theme, punctuated visually with guest artist Larry Thompson’s 36 original paintings inspired by the variations. The integration of these art forms draws the audience into a multi-sensory experience making both the aural and the visual impact stronger and more meaningful.
