YOUR IMPACT

“I discovered at Morris that I could combine both my Native identity and my interests in chemistry, which was a process I didn’t think was possible. STEM degrees are often thought of and taught as very rigorous tracks, and we don’t often see ties to culture within them, but this combination of my culture to my degree was encouraged and even celebrated when pursued at Morris.

Morris prepared me in many ways for where I am at graduate school now. Not only academically, where I was able to do years of undergraduate research, but also in the application process of applying to graduate school. I had the encouragement of all my mentors from Morris. Without them I wouldn’t have thought I could pursue a Ph.D. in the first place.

For future students considering UMN Morris, I would say keep an open mind. Morris may seem small, but the opportunities opened to you are immeasurable. You will find your community here.”
