A LIFETIME

Private College Feel, Public University Cost

Small class sizes. Close attention from professors who have the highest degree in their field. Hands-on research and career-building experiences. Transformational relationships with mentors and friends. These are the key advantages students usually find at a private college. But at the University of Minnesota Morris, students get all of that at a public university price. Students have access to a well-rounded, top-notch, liberal arts education that will set them up to succeed and thrive—at Morris and beyond.

At UMN Morris, students will be able to build on their strengths—and find new ones. Our small liberal arts campus community gives students the attention they need to pursue their interests and find out who they are. Our low cost—far less than private schools that offer a comparable experience—makes it possible. UMN Morris is truly an investment that counts. And the value of that investment lasts a lifetime.

INVESTMENT

Lowest Loan Debt

Investing in an education at UMN Morris doesn’t have to mean taking on debt. UMN Morris has the lowest average loan debt within the UMN System. In 2020, more than 40% of UMN Morris graduates had no student loan debt. Others had very little. These graduates were able to go on to graduate school, begin their careers, or start a business free of the student loan debt-related financial stress that most new graduates face.

FINANCIAL AID

MAKING A GREAT EDUCATION POSSIBLE

We believe that cost should never get in the way of a great education. We are steadfastly committed to making college affordable and accessible to everyone, no matter who they are or where they’re from. That’s why we encourage students to take advantage of the many opportunities for financial aid, including scholarships, grants, loans, and student employment.

Scholarships, Grants, Loans, Employment

Admitted first-year students are automatically considered for University-wide scholarships based on an overall assessment of their admission application.

As part of the University of Minnesota System, UMN Morris participates in the U Promise programs, which guarantee college funds for students meeting required family income levels.

Grants and loans are also available based on financial need. Earning money through work-study and student employment programs allows students to not only become part of the campus community, but to explore and affirm their career choice while gaining critical skills for professional employment.

Despite the many options, we know that navigating financial aid can feel overwhelming. At UMN Morris, we’ve streamlined the process, making it simple and transparent. We’re committed to working with students and their supporters from the very beginning of their financial aid journey to the end. Together, we’ll make sure students get the financial aid they need for a great education.

Submit the FAFSA

It all starts with the FAFSA. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is the only application needed for federal, state, and UMN Morris financial aid. It can be completed any time between October 1 and June 30. Priority deadline for funding is March 1.

• Visit studentaid.gov/fafsa to get started.

• Include Federal School Code 002389 to have the results sent to UMN Morris.
