Student Speakers TYLER WRIGHT Master of Ceremony Senior, Pattonville High School All my life, I have been deeply passionate about genetics. Even as a child, hearing about DNA filled my mind with images of a new frontier in my life. I knew that in the future, I would be striving to pursue a career in this field by attending a prestigious and revered college in which I can pursue a major in the said field. To accomplish this, I knew that I would have to stand out among my peers. Due to personal interest and a drive to make myself a well-rounded individual, I took part in Boy Scouts, swimming, speech and debate, orchestra, and archery. However, I knew that to afford to send myself to college, I would have to stand above my peers academically as well. My biggest concern at that stage was my ACT score. I owe my success in standardized testing entirely to the UMSL Bridge Program. I saw my score increase from a 23 to a 31 during my time taking part in the ACT-prep courses. Thanks to my experience in this program, I’ve taken another step closer to the dream I first had all those years ago. I plan to pursue a career in Molecular Genetics.

Academy. Whether it be in my College Preparation class learning about different aspects of the college planning process or the Writing and Dialogue Strategies class where we learned how to write a proper essay for college applications. Personally, I always felt supported by my instructors and the Bridge Team throughout my time in the program, which made me feel more confident in looking for a career that I knew would fulfill my passion. I am planning on going into the Engineering Field in the future. I want to be innovative in creating things that can help people in the long run. To accomplish this goal, I plan to start my college journey as a Biological Engineering major. I would not be as confident in my future if I did not have the support I was so willingly given through Bridge.
FOLASADE FANEGAN Student Keynote Speaker Senior, Hazelwood Central High School I am a senior at Hazelwood Central High School. Growing up half Nigerian, I felt that I'd somehow missed out on the opportunity to engage in my culture because I couldn’t speak Yoruba. From this desire, I’ve become very passionate about learning new languages and the associated cultures. I simply find joy in immersing myself in various languages, listening to songs, and understanding the “hidden” meanings in the lyrics or TV programs. Expanding beyond Yoruba, teaching myself different languages led me to love the art of linguistics with specific focuses on the interconnections of language represented in the brain. I’m excited to be recognized as a QuestBridge scholar. I plan to major in Psychology with a minor in Linguistics. I’m so grateful for my experience with the UMSL Bridge Program for the past four years. It’s shown me that with hard work and determination, that I have what it takes to reach my goals and define what success means to me.
Keynote Speaker LISA LESLIE WNBA Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist When the "face" of your sport is a Wilhelmina model, you know you're off to a good start. Lisa Leslie is undoubtedly the most-recognized player of both the WNBA and Team USA, who brought considerably more than a stunning visage and statuesque body to the court. Throughout her storied career Leslie was the absolute most dominant player in the women's game.
Leslie carried the gold-winning Team USA in 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008. With the 2008 gold medal, she became the first team sport athlete to win four consecutive Olympic Gold Medals. In 2001, Leslie was the first WNBA player to win the regular season MVP, the All-Star Game MVP and the playoff MVP in the same season. That same year she also led the Los Angeles Sparks to their first WNBA Championship. In 2002, she became the WNBA all-time leading scorer, was named MVP of the regular

championship, and shocked the world with the first slam-dunk in WNBA history. Leslie would go on to win her third MVP trophy of the WNBA in 2006. Leslie is the first woman to slam-dunk in a professional game. Leslie was inducted into both the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, in 2015.
Leslie became a commentator for ESPN in 2004, and has since been an in-studio sports analyst for ABC, Turner, Fox Sports Net, and NBC. She is currently a co-host of CBS Sports' "We Need To Talk". Lisa also starred in the 2018 Lionsgate film "Uncle Drew" alongside NBA superstar Kyrie Irving and NBA legends Shaquille O'Neal and Reggie Miller.
Leslie authored her own book "Don't Let the Lipstick Fool You" in 2008, and in 2010 became the first WNBA player turned Co-Owner of the Los Angeles Sparks. In 2012, she both received her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and launched the Lisa Leslie Basketball & Leadership Academy.
Leslie resides with her husband, Michael Lockwood, and two kids Lauren Jolie and Michael Joseph.
