UPB
The University Program Board (UPB), located in 366 Millennium Student Center, is the premiere event programming organization at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Our purpose is to present a varied series of educational, social, cultural, recreational, and entertainment programs which attempt to meet the diverse needs and interests of the UMSL community. UPB plans more than 100 events for the UMSL community each year including concerts, film series, speakers, excursions to local attractions, competitive recreation events, and much, much more. UPB provides students an opportunity to get involved with the planning and implementation of a wide range of campus activities. Become a UPB Peep If you’re interested in being a part of the action, become a UPB Peep (general member). Membership is open and available to all UMSL students. Weekly meetings are held throughout the academic year and give students opportunities to develop teamwork and leadership skills while helping plan really amazing events at the same time.

MLK Day of Service - January 16 MLK Day of Service is a great opportunity to bring a diverse group of people together for a common cause. Volunteers will arrive at the Millennium Student Center for checkin, breakfast, and a brief program before being disbursed to their sites via carpool. The service projects are approximately three hours. Walk-ups are welcome, but will only be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis, pending available space. The Catholic Newman Center keeps “move-in kits” on hand for students who are suddenly in need of household items, basic food stuff and toiletries. Help us put these kits together by bringing donations and/or volunteering your time to assemble them! Donations needed: new or gently used bath and hand towels, washcloths; dinner plates, cups/glasses and silverware/ utensils; basic toiletries (soap, shampoo & conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.); small garbage cans; non-perishable food items that easily open (not cans). 8:30 am – 12:00 pm Safe Zone LGBTQ+ Ally Training for Students Safe Zone Workshops are wonderfully unique opportunities for people to talk, learn, and ask questions about sexuality and gender in a nonjudgmental, safe, educational environment. Participants are offered three hours of a fun, safe space free of judgements where people can honestly communicate with each other, educate one another, and ask any and all questions. We live in an ever-diversifying society, and in order to be supportive and aware of different identities, perspectives, and experiences, we must pursue (and provide) opportunities to learn about different identities, perspectives, and experiences – particularly ones that are stigmatized, marginalized, and largely silenced. Saturday, March 25 8 pm St. Louis Osuwa Taiko Grandmaster Daihachi Oguchi formed the original Osuwa Daiko in Suwa, Japan, in 1951. In 1986, Oguchi-sensei visited St. Louis (sister city of Suwa) to found St. Louis Osuwa Taiko. A year later, he donated drums. St. Louis Osuwa Taiko started out as a kids’ group but has evolved to a nonprofit organization devoted to sharing taiko throughout Missouri and elsewhere through year-round performances, workshops and classes for children, adults, and seniors.
