“She’s a competitor, she is really selfdriven and has some of the highest expectations of any player I have ever coached. She is very consistent mentally, which lets her be really consistent with the rest of her game.” That is what Shana Easley, the head coach of UNC’s women’s softball team, had to say about the Bears’ starting junior shortstop Erica Dick. Dick currently holds the top two spots in the record book for runs scored in a single season—scoring 50

runs in her freshman season and 46 her sophomore season. Following a 19-7 win over Metro State on Tuesday, Dick was just one run away from breaking UNC’s career runs record held by UNC alumni Jessie Schoepflin. After their win over Portland State on Friday afternoon, Dick now holds the record at 119 runs, pushing Shoepflin’s 115 runs to second place. STORY CONTINUED ON PAGE 6
