A warm welcome

We are delighted to welcome you to the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa, and indeed to the historic town of St Andrews. We are lucky to be just yards away from our namesake and, more specifically, its 17th hole –widely regarded as one of the world’s trickiest but most rewarding par-fours. For this is the spiritual home of golf, where the game was first played more than 600 years ago. We’re also a crisp tee shot away from many other legendary courses, including our very own championship course, The Duke’s.

But there’s far more to this handsome corner of Fife than bunkers and birdies. Here at the resort you’ll find the state-of-the-art Kohler Waters Spa, impressive fitness facilities and eight incredible restaurants and bars. The stunning West Sands Beach is on our doorstep and St Andrews continues to live up to its reputation as one of the world’s most storied and charming university towns. There really is something for everyone. We hope you have a wonderful stay.

The Duke’s

MAKE YOUR OWN SLICE OF GOLFING HISTORY BY SAMPLING THE BEST OF ST ANDREWS’ WORLD-FAMOUS COURSES

– STARTING, NATURALLY, AT OUR VERY OWN DUKE’S CHAMPIONSHIP COURSE

The Old Lady will forever be the jewel in St Andrews’ crown of championship links courses, but our own course, The Duke’s, certainly gives it a run for its money. Just three and a half miles from the Old Course Hotel, the Home of Golf’s only heathland course is one of the best in the UK, with stunning views of St Andrews and West Sands Beach. Located on the picturesque high ground of the historic Mount Melville Estate, amid verdant woodland, gorse and heather, this is a risk-and-reward course for those who don’t mind throwing caution to the wind.

From the par-five Highland through to the nerve-jangling Ice House – with its own “valley of sin” – the course has been meticulously designed by Peter Thompson to suit every level of player. Expect plenty of bunkers and long, rolling greens. The Duke’s can play as long as 7,500 yards from the back tees and has hosted a number of elite amateur events – most recently the Scottish Men’s Amateur Open.

Courtesy transfers will be provided from the Old Course Hotel.

To book, call 0, and reception will be delighted to help.

Now part of the prestigious collection of Kohler championship golf courses, which also includes the legendary Whistling Straits in Wisconsin, The Duke’s has an awardwinning clubhouse bar and restaurant, fully stocked pro shop, driving range, short game area, par-three loop and a fleet of GPS golf buggies.

The only one of its kind outside the US, this exceptional spa offers a range of treatments inspired by the healing properties of water. With purposebuilt treatment rooms for therapeutic massages, results-oriented facials and body treatments, the spa utilises the earth’s mineral-rich waters to provide a truly rejuvenating experience. It’s important to note that the spa is currently undergoing a refurbishment project in the hydrotherapy suite. However, during this time, guests can still enjoy a wide range of treatments, access the spa pool and make use of the fitness pool, complete with sauna and hot tub. Don’t miss the opportunity to indulge in ultimate relaxation at Kohler Waters Spa.

MON-SUN, 6.30AM-9PM

Beach

WEST SANDS BEACH IS JUST A STROLL AWAY, PERFECT FOR ACTIVE ADVENTURES OR SIMPLY TO SOAK UP THE GLORIOUS VISTAS AND CRISP SCOTTISH AIR

Almost two miles of uninterrupted sand are within walking distance of the Old Course Hotel.

To find out more about beach activities, ask at the concierge desk, or call 8004 on your in-room telephone.

Best known as the setting for the opening scene of Chariots of Fire, West Sands Beach is an integral part of the St Andrews experience. Backed by dunes and world-renowned golf courses, this iconic stretch of sand is popular for walking, running and riding, plus swimming and surfing in the sea. Expect the water to be bracing – or jeelit, as we like to say in these parts –even in summer. Land yachting, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are also popular here, and the beach is a great place to pick up the East Neuk Fife Coastal Path.
