Hours:

Between 10-16 hours a week during term time and occasional hours during the summer, with the possibility of some work on evening and weekends. During busy periods at the SU, you might be expected to work the maximum16 hours. We want the hours to suit both the post holder and the needs of the organisation, so will be discussed and mutually agreed.

We value all our employees' mental and physical wellbeing. All colleagues are required to take an unpaid 45-minute break from any 9-5 shift to ensure they have their necessary rest and recuperation time

Hybrid and flexible working can be discussed: We know that students are working around a range of other commitments; we try to accommodate flexible working where possible

Hourly Rate of Pay:

You will be paid the Real Living Wage which is currently £12.22 per hour, these rates also include allowance for holiday pay at 12 07%

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

ESSENTIAL:

A student at Bangor University

Passionate about developing activities and projects within your appointed department

IT competent (knowledge of Microsoft Office and File Management systems)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Good organisational skills with the ability to plan work and meet agreed deadlines

DESIRABLE:

Ability to be proactive, think creatively and use own initiative

Experience in a democratic or student group environment (either voluntary or paid)

STUDENT CENTRE & COMMUNICATION ASSISTANT

To provide administrative and translation support to the Student Centre, Communications and Marketing and the wider SU staff Being a first point of contact for students

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Being a point of contact at the reception

Translation work (English to Welsh and Welsh to English)

Dealing with a wide range of customer enquiries

Answering student and visitor queries in person or by email

Assist with room bookings

Provide administrative support to the Operations and Communications teams

ADDITIONAL PERSON SPECIFICATION

An ability to provide excellent customer services in a busy environment, remaining calm, polite and friendly at all times

The ability to speak Welsh

Experience of working in a customer-focused environment or administrative role

P O S I T I O N S A V A I L A B L E

SUSTAINABLILTY ASSISTANT

To lead on the Undeb Bangor Green Impact submission and gathering of evidence, and support with the delivery of campaigns, projects and events associated with sustainability.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To support the creation and delivery of campaigns, projects and events associated with sustainability

Being visible around campus and online in engaging with students and promoting sustainability activities.

Liaise with Undeb Bangor departments and University departments as needed for information regarding sustainability to be used for the Green Impact submission

Collate and deliver on the Undeb Bangor Green Impact Submission

To assist with sourcing content and material from sustainability activities and projects working closely with the Communications and Marketing team for promotion.

Support the work of the team and Sabbatical Officers as necessary

STUDENT VOICE ASSISTANT

To support with promotion, engagement, and administration of Student Voice activity within the Union.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the delivery, development, and promotion the following areas within Student Voice in the Students’ Union - Course Rep Scheme; Elections; Student Council, Networks, Ideas, Campaigns and events

·Being visible around campus and online in engaging with students and promoting areas of Student Voice work

Support Student Voice meetings (including course rep meetings, council meetings and network meetings) as necessary

Support with some general day to day administrative tasks.

To assist with sourcing content and material that is relevant to the Student Voice work, working closely with the Communications and Marketing team for promotion

·Support the work of the President and VP Education and other Sabbatical officers when necessary

ADDITIONAL PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience in a democratic environment (either voluntary or paid)

Good understanding of democracy and representation

Confident to engage with students to collect feedback and promote Student Union campaigns and events

To support the creation and delivery of campaigns, projects and events associated your allocated opportunity (sports, societies, volunteering or UMCB).

Being visible around campus and online in engaging with students and promoting the opportunities available

Support activities through regular visits during evenings and weekends as applicable

Support with answering queries and general day to day administrative tasks

To assist with sourcing content and material from activities and projects working closely with the Communications and Marketing team for promotion

Support the work of the team and the Sabbatical officers when necessary

SPORTS ASSISTANT

To support with promotion, engagement, and administration of our sports and Athletics Union work and activity
