THE GAME CHANGER APPEAL
Sport is such an important part of school life. It is the ideal counterbalance to academic work. Beyond this, a passion for sport and physical activity, encouraged and nurtured at school, is a gift for life.
This is why we have a long-held ambition to develop our sports facilities so that we can give our girls even more opportunities to play, train and compete on top quality playing surfaces, unconstrained by weather and light.
nothing short of a transformation
Over the last few years, we have created and adapted an ambitious scheme that is nothing short of a transformation for Queen Anne’s sport.
We began fundraising for this in 2019. Generous donors stepped forward and the appeal began to gain momentum. Then we had to put the scheme on hold over the pandemic.
realising a dream
Now, we are ready to push ahead again with one of the most exciting developments Queen Anne’s has ever taken on.
As before, fundraising will be essential to us realising this dream. We hope you will support us.

We are gearing up for a game-changing development of our sports facilities
One scheme, four elements
Complete upgrade of our tennis and netball courts
Creation of a sports dome
Creation of an artificial turf pitch (ATP) with floodlights
Levelling of the grass pitches
Full re-surface
Floodlights
Windproof fences
Provision of 3 indoor tennis courts and 2 indoor netball courts. A flexible indoor training venue for many other sports and PE.
A full-size lacrosse pitch available in all weathers. Also, perfect for football.
A scheme to create a set of 4 completely level grass pitches, suitable for lacrosse, football, cricket and athletics.
What is an artificial turf pitch?
Artificial turf pitches are made of synthetic grass, which offers superb grip, a smooth playing surface, and a more weatherproof surface than regular grass pitches.
a top quality playing surface
Black rubber pellets, or rubber crumb are spread into the artificial grass to create a top quality playing surface, with shock absorbing underlay. This is a surface that is kinder on the skin and joints than conventional, sand-dressed astro-turf pitches and much less likely to cause impact injuries.

Pledges will be key
In principle support
We are asking for pledges, not donations. We will only ask individuals to redeem their pledges once we are certain that the scheme is going ahead.
Communication
We will keep donors informed of progress, updating them on design details, costs and timings. This will include information about the progress of the fundraising.
The development we need to fund
We are asking for pledges to help fund phases 2 and 3 of the sports development scheme outlined in this document.
We will of course happily accept pledges restricted to specific elements of the development.
Donor-perspective
Our fundraising is guided and overseen by a group of parents and friends - see list of Development Board members, opposite.
Naming
We will be happy to recognise the generosity of donors by naming elements of the scheme.
