Hi, Sindre. Please choose x of the following questions to answer. Some of the questions might seem a bit weird, but that’s because some of them are sourced from words describing how I’ve been feeling recently, and some of them from words describing the overall direction I’m taking with this next issue. Thank you. —Jacob 1. What’s new in your neck of the woods? I’m working on a comic book named PFFT!, some other book projects, and a solo exhibition in September at Galleri Briskeby in Oslo, Norway. 2. Your King 1-3 are on hit! When’s #4 gonna drop? Odd-Magnus Williamson and I planned it as a trilogy, with each edition being designed in different colors (red, white, blue) to match the Norwegian flag, so #4’s probably never going to drop, but we’re working on a children’s cookbook and a magazine, so the project’s not dead, yet. 3. Is there a political statement being made, an appreciation, or both? It’s not a political statement: It’s a fake autobiography about the king of Norway, given out in his name, where we’re playing around with the idea that the he behaves like a ten-year-old kid. 4. What’s being done with longevity in mind? We haven’t thought much about that either, but this project will come to an end soon, so hopefully we won’t need to think any further about it. 5. How would you like to contribute to the public discourse? I don’t have any such ambitions. 6. Do you have as much fun illustrating as the illustrations themselves depict? No, it takes a lot of time, and you have to be patient. 7. How sustainable is your current lifestyle? Pretty! 8. Are there any guarantees in life? Death. 9. When you’re off, why aren’t you on? ‘Cause then I’m off, you idiot. 10. Is that Fifel!? 11. When’s the last time you lost control? I don’t know; I don’t lose control that often. 12. What do you see when you look yourself in the mirror? A very handsome man. 13. Does this change depending on the day? No. 14. What’s dark side Sindre up to when you’re not around? 15. Integrity over everything? 16. How much of the human experience can be found in your comics? A lot of my work is based on reality in some way, but my own stupid emotions can be of great inspiration. 17. Is there a science to your art? 18. How do you deal with hate? 19. You and the Dongery crew are running things: What do you guys have in store for us next? We’re currently working on Dongery Magazine #10—and it’s going to be thick, so thick that it’ll be impossible to fold and/or staple. 20. When illustrating for a new book, are you typically given direction, or is it taken from its pages? Usually, I’m given a huge amount of freedom, and I think that’s when I get my best results, but sometimes the writers will have deeper meanings that they need to have expressed, so I’ll have to take that into consideration. 21. What of your life shines through in your work? A lot, I think, but it’s not always very clear to me where my ideas come from. 22. How have symbols inspired thought in your life? 23. Which do you find to be more rewarding: designing the flyer or going to the show after-

wards? Hehe, I guess both can be pretty rewarding—if it’s a good show. 24. What’s a successful day in your book? If I manage to get a day without stress and distractions, and just peace to sit and draw, I’m pretty happy. 25. Do you deal with depression? 26. How much time does it take you to whip up a new illustration? Depends on what kind of illustration it is … if it’s a complex piece (like a lot of my posters are), it usually takes three days: one for sketching, 1 for inking, and another for coloring. 27. What levels of intensity do you experience during creation? 28. How do you hope to incorporate the rapid advancement of technology in your career? I don’t know; I’m pretty old fashioned; I still use a brush and ink. 29. Have you achieved clarity from your work? 30. How do you reward yourself? 31. How have you structured your life around love? 32. Is illustration a constructive way for you to vent? 33. What’s being said of society? 34. Have you dealt with censorship, or ever censored yourself in any way? I’ve never been sensored, but I once hit the front page of the Bergensavisen (a stupid tabloid paper in Bergen), ‘cause I’d made a comic strip using some foul language, and they thought the editor of the Bergen Times (where the strip was printed) should’ve stopped it. 35. What is it about the limitation of color in screen printing that makes it so appealing? I’ve found that the variation in transparency can be used to terrific effect, and I like that it can be both simple and advanced at the same time. 36. How many layers go into each illustration? I think the most I’ve had is seven colors, but usually less. 37. Can you ever bee too serious, while not being serious enough? 38. When do your thoughts flow miraculously so? 39. Are you as joyous as your illustrations would pronounce? 40. When’s the last time you gave yourself some positive affirmations in the mirror? Hi, Sindre. Please choose x of the following questions to answer. Hi, Strangers of Necessity. So, yeah, I screwed up on your interview and mistakenly got it to you guys a whole 2 months in advance—thinking you were supposed to be in the 39th issue, when, in fact, you were sched’d to be in the 40th. So I’m now rounding out the the full 40 questions provided for issue 40 to your answered fifteen here at 1:34 a.m., April 1, 2016, to accommodate this issue’s artistic direction while maintaining your interview’s original responses here for balance. Sorry for the mix-up. You guys are awesome! —Jacob 1. How gooooes it? Yo! What’s good, Jacob? Just been grinding, man… Working on the new album. I (Cory) just dropped a few beat tapes recently, too. 2. In creating your own lane, what’s been the greatest challenge you’ve faced so far? Can’t say we’ve faced many challenges as of yet besides sometimes feeling overlooked, hardships getting the shows we want, and having quality merch that we feel reps our brand appropriately. Other than that, we just do what feels right. 3. How’s your new album (title?) coming along? It’s coming along well. It’s yet to be titled, though. We don’t like to rush things, so we’re really taking our time to craft something that truly represents us. 4. You two been crushing it on the smoothed-out vibe, but what can we expect from this next go ‘round? Some of that same vibe with a bit more aggression and personalization. We want the fans to get to know us a little better with this one. 5. How does the chemistry between you two correlate to the music being made? It just makes our creative process come easily. We live miles away from each other now, but we’re usually still on the same wavelength musically. 6. What makes you guys stand out from the other producer/rapper duos of the past? Our ability to create a vibe for any and every situation. Yeah, we have that ‘old school’ feel, but our sound is still progressive and constantly moving forward. Plus, we’re planning on adding some new elements to our group to switch up the dynamic some. Like some live instrumentation, a DJ or, maybe, another emcee. We just gotta find what feels right and go with it. 7. What benefit has performing live proven towards the creation of new material? Our live shows are always turnt! Performing live has given us the ability to recognize when a song is going to go over well with the crowd. So now, when we’re creating, we look for those certain elements to add to draw the crowd in and make them want more after each song we do. 8. How are you plans to tour coming along? We plan on booking a lot more shows this year and have been added to Divine Bookings’ talent pool. So, hopefully, they’ll be plugging us with more high profile gigs in the near future. 9. Has the distance between you two contributed to your creative process? The distance sucks sometimes, but we’ve grown so much as friends since all this started that it hasn’t stopped our development. Whether it be text, email or phone call: We always have ideas to bounce off of each other. 10. Has it pretty much been

online all the time since you two linked up off Twitter? No. We linked up in person a few days after connecting off of twitter, and we kicked it and made music a lot before Cory moved to Chicago. Now, we just make it a point to get together when we have the chance to. 11. What sparked that meeting anyhow? After I (Fooch) listened to the beats Cory had sent, I instantly knew that I had to work with him. I happened to be going to the studio not too far from where Cory was living at the time and asked him if he wanted to roll with me—and the rest is history. Some people are just meant to be in your life like that. 12. The Internets, is there anything it can’t do? Not really, because you can pretty much get anything you want, and be whoever you want to be, online. 13. And how’d you guys get hooked-up with Radio Juicy all the way in Germany? I (Cory) connected with Radio Juicy through my presence on the beat scene in the Soundcloud community, they reached out to me, and our relationship was built from there. 14. What’s good with HardJazz7 and Mic Hand Recordings? HardJazz7 is another label that I (Cory) have worked with, and they offered to help us put out Tangerine Avenue. Mic Hand Recordings is an indie label run by my bro, Rick Noggle (aka imperfekt). And yes, I (Fooch) am still affiliated with them. That’s my fam. 15. Any shout-outs? S/O to everyone all over the world showing us love on their blogs, podcasts, radio shows, YouTube vids, social media pages and all that. We appreciate all y’all! Next we gotta shout-out Mic Hand Recordings, HardJazz7 and Radio Juicy for believing in our talent enough to stand behind it. Shouts to all the Iowa homies, #BrownLiquorMob, DJ K Yung, Good Time$, Vic Spencer and all the Chicago guys. Much love—and keep vibin’ with us. Peace. 16. How eager are you for further challenge? 17. How would you like to transition into larger projects? 18. What distractions have you been facing? 19. How important is it for you to own up to your mistakes? 20. How do you express gratitude in your lives? 21. Where do you look for opportunities to advance? 22. How has pressure defined you? 23. Why is laughter the best medicine? 24. How has the multitude of emotion you’re feeling now changed over the last few months? 25. Can you really have a good day w/o music? 26. How do you give others’ negativity the slip? 27. How do you handle adversity? 28. How do you overcome adversity? 29. Would you describe yourselves as being strategic individuals? 30. How do you cope with isolation? 31. Is it okay to reveal personal thoughts/feelings/moments to the public? 32. Who’s normal? 33. What’s weird? 34. What does atmosphere do you for your art? 35. Has push gone to shove? 36. What relationship do you have with your work today? 37. What freedoms does money allow you? 38. Do you enjoy taking risks? 39. Has the whole world gone crazy? 40. Will your work ever be complete? Hi, Strangers of Necessity. So, yeah, I screwed up on your interview and mistakenly got it to you guys a whole 2

Hi, Javier. Please choose x of the following questions to answer. Some of the questions might seem a bit weird, but that’s because some of them are sourced from words describing how I’ve been feeling recently, and some of them from words describing the overall direction I’m taking with this next issue. Thank you. —Jacob 1. How are you? Fine, thanks. 2. What does graphic design mean to you? Well, probably, the approach that I have to my profession, it’s not related to graphic design or illustration or any of those solutions, even though I use them all the time, and I consider myself a graphic designer, but I’m much more interested in communication (and not even visual communication): of course we have audio, we have images, we have anything that we can use for communication between people—that’s probably the thing that I’m more interested in. 3. How does it feel to hit the nail on the head each time around? 4. When’s a message lost on an audience? 5. …Found? 6. Why do you create? 7. Is serenity easily accessible in your days and nights? 8. Do you personally feel better in working with big-name clientele? 9. Are you happy with the way things are going? Yes, I see my glass as almost full. 10. When is life simple? Probably every day, but we try to find a thousand reasons to make it complicated—and the bad part is we find them. 11. When’s design? Hopefully, every time that it’s good: and simple doesn’t mean easy, without layers, or void of meaning. 12. How has manipulation gotten you to where you are today? 13. What appearance do you take on in public? I don’t know if it’s good or bad, but I don’t have two faces; I only have the 1. 14. When you’re not yourself, who are you? 15. What recurring themes are available in your work? 16. When will war become a thing of the past? Hopefully, tomorrow. 17. What relationship do you have with your work today? 18. How has betrayal affected you personally? I don’t think it’s affected me much. 19. When do you lack the confidence but succeed anyhow? 20. And can this be attributed to simple order in your days? 21. How important is the relationship between the art director and you? It’s amazingly important, and great work comes from great art direction a lot of the time. 22. What’s more if you have everything you want already? 23. How has failure made you successful? 24. How does differentiation of style and technique lend to motivation? 25. What’s missing in your life? 26. Who really makes a difference to you without their knowing it? Probably, some of my friends. 27. What’s stopping you? 28. Are things carefully constructed or ‘good enough’ when the time calls? Sometimes I feel like the clown in the circus with the spinning plates, in that I’m constantly working on many, many things, and I’m trying my best to make sure that none of my plates will fall. 29. Has this become standard in accordance with clients’ needs? As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that everyone’s just improvising, and that nobody actually knows what they’re doing—and I’m just waiting to see what happens next. 30. How is each new

work culturally infused with that of your last? 31. What are you counting the days towards? “ Take your pleasures seriously.” —Charles Eames 32. Will that day ever come? Yes. 33. Are you more at home in nature? Not especially… 34. Is shadow considered in each form? 35. What’s done in maintenance of talent besides more work? Paying attention, being aware, and staying awoke to the ways of the world. 36. Do you ever get the feeling that this this has already all happened? 37. How do you get away from it all? I like going out with friends, watching movies, taking walks by the sea, spending time with my nephew—you know—these kind of things… 38. Why is it that we treat the people that are the most important to us the worst sometimes? Probably because we think that they’re always going to be there. 39. What’s the point of anything at all ever? 40. Isn’t it funny that things only get more difficulter as time goes on? Yes. Hi, Javier. Please choose x of the following questions to answer.
