Your journey to Bedfordshire

Our prospectus is full of information to help you make an informed choice about your future, as we understand what an important decision choosing the right university can be.

This section will give you an overview of your university journey, with more detailed information throughout this prospectus. However, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at: study@beds.ac.uk

What do you want to study?

Some of you may have a specific subject or course in mind already. If so, start researching what universities do that course, and look at things such as the different modules within the course and work experience opportunities. Don’t worry if you don’t know exactly what you want to study – you are definitely not alone! Think about the subject areas that you enjoy and where it could take you. We'd be happy to hear from you, so you are welcome to contact us with your questions.

Visit us at an Open Day

Open Days are a great way to find out more about a university. At our Open Days you’ll be able to tour our facilities and accommodation, speak to some of our academics and current students, and learn more about student finance, careers and employability and Beds SU. Our 2021 Open Days are listed on the back of this prospectus. If you can’t make it to an Open Day we also run regular campus tours and virtual events.

Apply

Once you have done your research, and visited some universities, you should be in a position to apply. You can apply for up to five courses through UCAS. For information on how to apply to the University of Bedfordshire see pages 188 - 189.

UCAS allows you to select a Firm (first) and Insurance (second) choice. If you applied to university by the January deadline, you typically need to have accepted your offer by May. For exact dates visit: www.ucas.com

Apply for accommodation

Once you have accepted an offer you can apply for accommodation. Staying in university halls is a great way to meet new people, and at the University of Bedfordshire there are many other benefits such as inclusive bills, and close proximity to our campuses. We also guarantee accommodation to all first-year students. For more information about our accommodation see pages 32 -33.

Results day

If you have met the conditions of your Firm choice university your place will be confirmed via UCAS Track. If the University of Bedfordshire was your Firm choice we’ll also send you a text on results day, followed by a Welcome Pack. If you didn’t receive the results you wanted, or have changed your mind since making your original application, do not panic. Our Clearing team will be happy to discuss your options, and the different courses that we have available.
