Here at the University of Bedfordshire we try to make financing your studies as simple and affordable as possible. That’s why we offer a number of scholarships and bursaries, on top of government loans, to support you throughout your time with us. And remember, you only pay back your loan when you earn; not as you learn, leaving you more time to focus on your studies.

TUITION FEES 2017 All students in England are expected to pay tuition fees to study at University.

Tuition fees are not paid upfront

The full-time undergraduate tuition fee is ÂŁ9,250 per year. The part-time undergraduate tuition fee is charged pro rata to ÂŁ6,160. However, there is help at hand from the Government to support you in paying these fees.

GOVERNMENT LOANS You can apply for a tuition fee loan and/or a maintenance loan from the Government to help pay for your studies.

Tuition fee loan If you are a UK or EU student, Student Finance England are likely to pay your fees. Fee loans are also available for part-time students. Applications and terms and conditions can be found at: www.gov.uk/student-finance

Maintenance loan If you are a UK or EU student, you can apply for the student maintenance loan online. The amount you receive will depend partly upon household income. To find out more and apply, visit: www.gov.uk/student-finance

WELCOME PACKAGE Our Welcome Package is one of the most flexible support packages of all British universities, available to UK and EU students. When you join us you will receive a minimum of £450*. And what’s more, you can choose how you spend it. So whether you need additional monetary support for your studies, or you want to put it towards an experience you won’t forget, the choice is yours.

SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS If you have the desire to compete, coach or officiate at the highest level in your sport of interest, or you have already achieved a high standard in your favourite sport, then you could be eligible for one of our Sports Scholarships. Worth up to £1,000, some also offer additional benefits such as a gym membership for our on campus Aspire gyms.

Our Sports Scholarships include: Platinum Performance Platinum Coach/Official Gold Performance Gold Coach/Official Talented Performer So, whether you play, coach or officiate sport at county or international standard, these scholarships will recognise your talent and support your development. FOUNDATION YEAR BURSARY If you’re undertaking a Foundation Year as part of an integrated four-year degree, then you could be entitled to our Foundation Year bursary worth £500. All full-time, new UK students (or EU students that are UK domiciled) undertaking a degree with Foundation Year in 2017 will be eligible for this bursary. It can be used for all essential materials and living costs to support your studies. You will also receive our Welcome Package when you progress into the first year of your degree. CARE LEAVERS BURSARY We work hard to ensure that our support services are as accessible as possible for all of our students. Therefore if you are supported by your local authority leaving care service and are under the age of 25 then this bursary is for you. While there are no restrictions on the nationality of applicants, you must be normally resident in the UK and enrolled on a full-time degree. To find out more, visit: unibeds.info/care-leavers

SPECIAL BURSARIES AND SCHOLARSHIPS Bedfordshire Police Bursary

If you’ve been a resident in Bedfordshire since May 2015, this fund will provide a 50% tuition fee waiver per year, meaning you’ll have less money to pay back at the end of your studies and more money in your pocket.

Kathleen and Michael Connolly Foundation

As a full-time first year Honours student you could be eligible for £1,000, based on academic excellence and financial need.

Steel Charitable Trust Bursary

This £1,000 bursary is for local, final year students. Financial help at this crucial time in your studies means you will have more time to concentrate on your work. It is based on academic excellence as well as financial need, and you must also have lived in Bedfordshire for three years or more since August 2011.

General Bursaries/Scholarships (fund raised)

We also offer our UK and EU students a number of bursaries and scholarships which are made possible through donations to the University. The number of these bursaries and scholarships therefore depends on the amount donated in any one year. BUDGETING Budgeting means you’ll have enough money to cover both essential outgoings such as bills, as well as having money left over to socialise with your new friends.
