Many of our undergraduate courses now include a 12-week placement which involves working full-time with a local business in Milton Keynes. You can experience loads of sports and activities – from indoor skiing on real snow to indoor sky-diving, sailing, windsurfing and water sports. However, if you prefer to watch, there are local football and rugby teams, and MK is home to the national centre for badminton. There’s also a great network of cycle paths and, as the area isn’t too hilly, it’s easy to get around on foot.

In 2013, our new UCMK campus was launched, offering a number of high-quality teaching spaces, as well as informal learning spaces. What’s more, our new campus location also offers a wide range of specialist facilities and equipment to support your studies, including two specialist electronics and telecommunications laboratories, as well as state-of-the-art computer labs.

By September 2015, the University’s UCMK campus will boast a whole host of new facilities and resources for our Milton Keynes based students. This exciting development includes a new on-site café, as well as a new Learning Resources Centre (LRC) facility which will house a wide range of core texts and resources to support your studies. The new LRC will also provide an independent study room, with silent study spaces to provide a professional environment in which to focus on your assignments.

Foundation and undergraduate courses Applying online For all full-time higher education courses at universities and colleges in the UK, students must apply online at: www.ucas.com. There are two types of applicant: students at a school or college registered with UCAS, and independent applicants. School and college applicants All UK schools and colleges (plus a small number of overseas establishments) are registered with UCAS, which manages student applications.

Topping up a HND or other foundation degree If you have or are completing a foundation degree or HND from another institution and want to top up on a full-time basis you should apply via UCAS indicating the year you wish to join in the point of entry field. Once your form is received you will be asked to provide details of your foundation degree or HND so that an appropriate decision can be made on your application.
Making an application – EU and international students Students applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate course can apply online or download an application form from: unibeds.info/int-application. We have specialist admissions teams looking after applications from different regions – email your complete application to the regional team looking after your country. Counselling Service
The Student Information Desk (SiD) is the gateway to student services in one, convenient location. SiD desks are located across all of our campuses where you can speak to someone face-to-face. Each friendly SiD adviser will listen to your problem and try to resolve it for you there and then, or assign it to someone who can. SiD delivers a range of services, from accepting Access to Learning Fund forms to booking appointments with various departments, and providing useful information. SiD Online is a 24/7 support tool which enables you to view and update enquiries, log new enquiries and search a database of over 500 Frequently Asked Questions.
We provide professional counselling for students experiencing problems of a personal or emotional nature that may be interfering with their academic work and life.
Student Engagement The Student Engagement Team provides confidential and impartial advice on support available at the University and beyond. They offer one-to-one appointments to discuss problems including academic, personal and health issues that may be impacting on your studies and success. The team can refer you to relevant internal and external support if you require. They also work closely with all support teams at the University as well as your academic department, to ensure your needs are fully met.
Counselling is available to all full-time and part-time students. A telephone service is offered to students studying at our UCMK campus.
Mental Health Personal support is offered to students experiencing mental health difficulties. Support can be accessed at any point during your studies. We also provide support for students returning to study after a period of illness.
Community and Faith Our Community and Faith teams based in the Tree House on the Luton campus, SeedBeds on the Bedford campus, at UCMK and Oxford House in Aylesbury, welcome all students, of all faiths and beliefs. Students whose learning may be affected by a disability, a long-term medical condition or a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia should contact the Disability Team.
The Money Advice Team offers confidential advice and support from experienced advisers. If you have money worries the advisers are able to give you general advice on budgeting and will point you toward alternative sources of funding that may be available. You can catch any of the frequent trains between London and Milton Keynes Central – it usually takes about 40 minutes into London Euston. It can take just 55 minutes to Birmingham New Street and, being on the West Coast Main Line, a wide variety of national and local routes are available through Virgin, London Midland and Southern rail companies. Milton Keynes is very well served by coach companies – it has the second busiest coach station in the UK, offering coach services up and down the M1 and as far as Scotland; to various airports, to Oxford and Cambridge, Peterborough, Northampton and London, as well as connections between these services.
