Pre–sessional English courses We offer a range of pre-sessional English courses to help improve your level of English and support you in developing the necessary study skills before your main programme commences. Our English Language courses are accredited by the British Council, confirming the quality of our provision. You will be advised whether you need to attend a pre-sessional course when you make your application to study with us. Find out more: unibeds.info/PSENG Communication Skills Classes Our Communication Skills Classes offer you further support in adjusting to the higher education system in the UK. This unit will help you improve your academic and soft skills to maximise your grades on your main course. The classes are timetabled into your first year of study on both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Visit: unibeds.info/commsclass

Our student engagement advisers offer support on a range of problems you might be facing. They can offer confidential advice on academic, personal and health issues that may be impacting your studies. We also have a Bedfordshire Police Liaison Officer who works directly with the university to help maintain a safe and welcome environment.

During your time at Bedfordshire you have the opportunity to enhance not only your own experience but also that of your fellow students by becoming a course or faculty representative. Become the voice for fellow students on your course, help solve or raise issues on behalf of your peers, and get access to full student rep training, run by the Students’ Union.

Visit: unibeds.info/stsupportservices

Students’ Union Our Students’ Union is a vibrant, supportive and fun community and is a great place to make friends and get involved in events and volunteering. Beds SU also offers a Welfare and Advice service where you can gain support on issues relating to accommodation, finance, plagiarism, employment, health, personal safety, wellbeing and more.

Community and Faith Our Community and Faith teams based in Tree House in Luton and SeedBeeds in Bedford and Milton Keynes welcome students of all faiths and beliefs. We offer confidential personal support, a range of social activities and events and quiet prayer rooms. Our teams can also link you with your local faith communities and places of worship.

If you want to take getting involved even further and make an impact in a wider community, you could run in elections to represent students as one of the sabbatical officers in the Students’ Union.

The information about courses provided in this prospectus is intended to give potential applicants an overview of the programmes that the University intends to make available in the next academic year. Every effort is made to ensure that the information in the prospectus is accurate. However, it may become necessary for the University to make changes, for example to programme content, course delivery and fees, due to legitimate staffing, financial regulatory and academic reasons including (but not limited to) industrial action, lack of demand, departure of key personnel, change in government policy, withdrawal or reduction of funding, the requirements of the quality code of the quality assurance agency or a change of law. The University will endeavour at all times to keep such changes to a minimum and to keep students informed appropriately. If a course is not provided in whole or in part, the University will take such steps as are available to it to minimise the effect of any alteration or withdrawal. Such steps may include alterations to delivery of teaching or assessment, the offer of a place on an alternative course or the offer to transfer to another course at the University or elsewhere. You will be entitled to decline to accept the changes to the programme and withdraw but not to receive a refund for those parts of the programme that you have completed whether or not you have passed any assessment.
