Welcome! Welcome to the University of Bedfordshire and the UCAS Higher Education Convention for Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire & Milton Keynes. If you’re thinking about progressing on to higher education (HE) then this is the best place to start. Choosing the right course at the right university or college is an important, life changing decision and this event is all about helping you make the best choice for you. This convention gives you the opportunity to attend subject talks about the courses you’re interested in and speak to staff from different HE institutions across the UK. You can gather plenty of information to take away, read and discuss with your family, friends and teachers. There are two main parts to the day that you should not miss:
Exhibition The exhibition is held in the Sports Hall and the Marquee, with 150 institutions attending. Make sure you take the time to visit the stands of the institutions you are interested in and ask questions to the staff representatives. If you’re stuck about what to ask, turn to page 11 and read some of our suggested questions. And don’t forget to take home some of the freebies that are on offer!
Subject Talks There are a wide range of subject talks running throughout the day, each lasting 30 minutes. These presentations give you the chance to find out more about a specific area of study and ask any questions you may have about the subject. Turn to page 10 to see the list of subject talks, times and room numbers then use the planner on page 3 to help build your schedule for the day. The University of Bedfordshire’s Bedford campus map can be found on pages 8 and 9 to help you locate the rooms where the talks will be held.
Your UCAS ticket
Friendly Faces
Your UCAS ticket will have a barcode on it, which will need to be scanned on entrance to the event. Please ensure you bring your UCAS ticket with you. You will also need to keep this with you as you make your way around the exhibitor stands throughout the course of the day.
Don’t forget – the University of Bedfordshire’s friendly staff and Student Ambassadors will be available on campus throughout the day to help you with any queries or give directions – look out for their red t-shirts!
