Law
Ranked joint 1st for Law1, our Law School prides itself on two key features: high student satisfaction and strong employability outcomes. Through small-group tutorial teaching, our experienced academic staff ensure you build the foundations for your legal, or other professional, career.
Through both evidence and research-based learning in a condensed mode of delivery, you will be equipped for the critical legal challenges of today and tomorrow.
We offer a dynamic StreetLegal programme which provides you with numerous work placements at a broad range of legal firms and organisations, judicial shadowing schemes and court visits.
For those interested in qualifying as a solicitor in the UK, our LLB (single or combined honours) provides you with thorough preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Exam 1 (SQE1), enabling you to choose the accelerated SQE1 preparation courses after graduation. Our innovative and diverse curriculum also contributes to preparation for the practice orientated SQE2 (both SQE1 and SQE2 being necessary for qualification as a solicitor). Our Law graduates benefit from a 20% discount on the SQE1 preparation course through the leading professional legal educator BARBRI.
For those UK and international students wishing to qualify as an English barrister, our LLB (single or combined honours) satisfies the academic component of Bar training, the necessary first step to qualifying as an English barrister.
Our LLB is also available through part-time study, which involves attending a seminar one evening a week during term time, allowing you to earn a law degree alongside other commitments, graduating in just four years.
We also offer postgraduate Law (LLM) degrees, so you can graduate with a master’s in just three years (increasing your earning potential on average by £6,0002 per year).
We offer January and September intakes for most of our courses. All Law courses are taught on the Buckingham campus.
