Psychology

Understanding people will be central to the future world of employment; their thoughts, behaviour and motivations. The Psychology degree at Buckingham is designed to help you develop the knowledge and skills for a career focused on people.

As one of the only twoyear BPS-accredited Psychology degrees in the UK, you’ll be able to fast track your career within this popular field.

Accredited content is covered in the middle of our two-year degree and during the second year, each term you can choose modules from all seven areas of practitioner psychology. Unlike many universities you will also have a choice of topic for your final year project you can choose a subject of your own.

The award-winning Buckingham teaching model focuses upon weekly tutorial meetings with tutors on every module which means you have quality contact time with the staff. You can ask questions, check that you are on track with assignments, and interact with the staff who are teaching you. This is one of the reasons why our psychology degrees have been ranked 4th for Student Satisfaction (National Student Survey, 2020).

Aside from developing subject-specific knowledge, a psychology degree will enable you to develop your communication, leadership and research skills; refine your critical thinking; and better understand yourself and others.

It is a degree that is increasingly valued by employers due to the analytical and reasoning skills it provides.

Psychology graduates are sought after in business, teaching, research, social work, as well as in medicine and healthcare.

We offer a range of postgraduate Psychology degrees: you can graduate with a master’s in just three years (boosting your earning potential on average by £6,0001 more per year).

We offer January and September intakes for most of our courses. All Psychology courses are taught on the Buckingham campus.
