THE LIFE & LEG ACY OF
DEACONESS
A TIME TO BE BORN
… Agnes Delores was born on July 5, 1942 to the late Benjamin and Gladys Butler nee Cooper. She was the fourth child that God had blessed them with.
A TIME TO GROW Agnes spent her early childhood years at the Worrell School on East Bay St. and from there she moved to the Eastern Senior School off Mackey St. where she graduated. Agnes grew up in the church attending the St. James Native Baptist Church until the age of 15 with her Aunt Clara (with whom she lived). A few years later she returned to the homestead where she then attended the Church of God Auditorium Fowler Street where she and her family worshipped. At the tender age of 17, Agnes accepted the Lord. Since then she had devoted her life solely to him through her dedication and willingness to do his will. At the Fowler Street Church of God, which was known for the best choir the Bahamas had, Agnes and her sisters were the strongest sopranos ever heard. As she got older, Agnes and her sisters became a part of a dynamic record recording singing group called the Original Jubilee Singers.
A TIME TO UNITE IN MARRIAGE While attending a convention in 1962 at the East Street Cathedral Church of God, she met who would be the love of her life, Harold Arthur Nairn (deceased). Two years later on June 26, 1964, they were joined in holy matrimony. Early in the marriage, they decided Agnes would be a homemaker raising their children in the fear and admonition of God. This union is forever blessed with (6) children, (18) grandchildren, and (4) Great Grand Children.
A TIME TO WORK In the 1980’s, with most of her children older, Agnes decided she needed a little more activity in her life. At this time, she and her husband decided to open an eatery, which was affectionately named after her… Aggie's Take Away, located top of the Hill Kemp Road. Agnes successfully managed this business for a number of years until she felt a calling on her life for service to the Lord.

A TIME TO LABOUR FOR THE KINGDOM ‘’Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praised her’’. Sister Nairn truly depicted a Proverbs 31 woman by joyfully taking care of her household and others. She would often host clothing and food drives, giving to the needy even if it were her last. Her family whom she loved dearly, admired her for the work she did, knowing that the Lord will give her a just reward. After serving at the Mission through Faith Church of God for numerous years, Sister Nairn and her husband heeded the call of God on their lives to propel in ministry. They were elected as Pastors, and along with faithful members, they gave birth to Vision of Hope Cathedral Church of God in the year 1990, where she served as Women’s Ministries President for (17) yrs. During this time, she assisted in molding the lives of many ladies, young and old alike. At Vision of Hope, Sis. Nairn was quite instrumental in many fundraising building projects.
A TIME TO STUDY A scholar of the word, Agnes was successful in graduating from the Ministerial Internship Program in the year 1993. In the year 1999, Agnes received a Certificate in Christian Studies and Theology.
A TIME TO BE ACTIVE Sister Agnes was actively involved in her local church and has held numerous positions. They were follows: Women’s Ministries President, Chef, Decorator, Choir Director, Minister of Finance, Deaconess, and Member of the Fund-Raising Committee. Sister Nairn received numerous special awards namely: The Bahamas Gospel Excellence Award where she was inducted into the Women of Wisdom Hall of Fame (2005), The Church of God National Women’s Ministries Lydia Award (2008). A recipient of the Bahamas Association of Ministers Wives and Widows and Widow of the Year Award 2011-2012, a crowned mother of the Year for Vision of Hope Cathedral and subsequently Eastern District Mother of The Year 2011-2012. The brain child of all night prayer meetings, clothing and food drives, Cook-Outs, Dollar ($1) Days, Old- Fashioned SweetWater Programs, Seed- Sowing Exercises and the famous Shoe, Suit and Dress size Fund-raiser for her local assembly. The founder of the 100 Women in White, a service at Vision of Hope Cathedral, where women from all denominations came together in a night of worship. In May 2011, a Birthday Bash Fund Raiser was held for the completion of ‘The Bishop Harold A. Nairn Community & Activity Center, which was dubbed a great success. This was the vision of Bishop Harold A. Nairn and needless to say Sis. Agnes was quite instrumental in the completion of his vision. Sister Agnes exhibited a great personality, trustworthiness, enthusiasm and dedication, enjoyed helping people and found joy in working along with The Church of God National Refuge & Care Ministry. Each year Sister Agnes and her sisters Ethel and Sheila, travelled to South Eleuthera Convention where she had established a clothing drive. Serving as a Fund- Raising Captain; she brought much needed funds to the island. It is during this time that Sister Nairn and her sisters distributed gifts to the ladies of Eleuthera for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. ‘’She stretched out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy’’. Agnes fervently believed ‘’If she could help somebody while passing along this way, then her living and giving would not be in vain’’.

Bishop Kirklyn Smith OPENING SONG ……………………………………………………...…………..……….. ‘I’m Glad I’ve Counted The Cost’ When first I started to seek the Lord, I’m glad I counted the cost; I fully measured to Jesus’ Word; I’m glad I counted the cost.
Refrain: I’ve paid the price and obtained the prize, He saved my soul that was lost; And now my treasures are in the skies, I’m glad I counted the cost.
I laid my sorrows at Jesus’ feet, I’m glad I counted the cost; And now I’ve pleasures so pure and sweet, I’m glad I counted the cost.
I’ve bid farewell to this world of sin, I’m glad I counted the cost; And now my Jesus abides within, I’m glad I counted the cost.
I cast on Jesus my every care, I’m glad I counted the cost; And all my burdens He helps to bear, I’m glad I counted the cost.
’Twill not be long till the Lord shall come, I’m glad I counted the cost; And bear my soul to that heav’nly home, I’m glad I counted the cost.
FAVORITE HYMN …………………………………………..………………..……..…….. ‘Blessed Assurance Jesus Is Mine’ Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine; Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
Refrain: This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long. This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, perfect delight, Visions of rapture now burst on my sight; Angels descending, bring from above Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
Perfect submission, all is at rest, I in my Savior am happy and blest; Watching and waiting, looking above, Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
INVOCATION ……………………………………………….……………………………….……… Rev. Pascale Saunders HYMN …………………………………………………………………………………….‘’And Can It Be That I Should Gain’’ And can it be that I should gain An int’rest in the Savior’s blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued? Amazing love! how can it be That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
’Tis mystery all! The Immortal dies! Who can explore His strange design? In vain the firstborn seraph tries To sound the depths of love Divine! ’Tis mercy all! let earth adore, Let angel minds inquire no more.
He left His Father’s throne above, So free, so infinite His grace; Emptied Himself of all but love, And bled for Adam’s helpless race: ’Tis mercy all, immense and free; For, O my God, it found out me.
Long my imprisoned spirit lay Fast bound in sin and nature’s night; Thine eye diffused a quickening ray, I woke, the dungeon flamed with light; My chains fell off, my heart was free, I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

No condemnation now I dread; Jesus, and all in Him, is mine! Alive in Him, my living Head, And clothed in righteousness Divine, Bold I approach the eternal throne, And claim the crown, through Christ my own.
Refrain: Amazing love! how can it be That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

While we walk the pilgrim pathway, Clouds will overspread the sky; But when traveling days are over, Not a shadow, not a sigh.
Let us then be true and faithful, Trusting, serving every day; Just one glimpse of Him in glory Will the toils of life repay.

q IT’S ALRIGHT NOW There was a time I traveled A lonely sinful road Beneath a heavy burden bending low But now all things are different For Jesus took my load It's alright now I'm His I know
Refrain: It's alright now For I am in my Savior's care It's alright now My Savior hears and answers prayer He'll walk beside me 'Til I climb the heav'nly stair And ev'rything is alright now
A-down a lonely pathway Without a friend to guide I walked in sin and sorrow all alone 'Til Jesus came and found me And drew me to His side It's alright now for I'm His own

CITY OF GOLD There’s a city of light Where there cometh no night “Tis a city of beauty untold; All my treasures are there And its beauty I’ll share; When I get to that City of Gold.
Refrain: When I leave all trouble and care, I will say good morning up there; I will have great gladness untold, When I get to that City of Gold.
There’s no sorrow up there In that city so fair And no sickness can enter I’m told; Shadows all would have flown, I will meet friends I’ve known, When I get to that City of Gold.
Won’t you go there with me To the home of the free, Would you see heaven’s beauty unfold; If you will, come along We will sing heaven’s song When I get to that City of Gold.
GLAD REUNION DAY There will be a happy meeting in Heaven, I know When we see the many loved ones We've known here below Gathered on that blessed hilltop with hearts all aglow That will be a glad reunion day. When we live a million years in that wonderful place Basking in the love of Jesus, beholding His face It will seem but just a moment of praising His grace That will be a glad reunion day.
Refrain: A glad day, a wonderful day, A glad day, a glorious day There with all the holy angels and loved ones to stay That will be a glad reunion day.

“You taught me everything Everything you've given me I'll always keep it inside You were the driving Force in my life There isn't anything Or anyone that I could be And it just wouldn't feel right If I didn't have you by my side You were there for me, To love and care for me, When skies were gray Whenever I was down You were always there to comfort me.” These are more than words to me as today we lay my Mother, Twin, Counselor, Confidant, Spiritual Advisor and Encourager to rest. You were the wind beneath my wings, never allowing me to “fly" alone. Throughout the changing scenes of life you've never changed. Telling me when I was wrong, right or how to work it out.. You've helped me nurture my children, been there for all special occasions as number one supporter. We've been through a lot together and I only could've made it with you by my side. I will miss our rides out west, ice-cream, fritters, and ice coffee. Your Godly counsel will forever be in my heart. I will try my best to live by your legacy.

A Tribute to My Mother
A women of God, a Prayer Warrior, a solider in the army of the Lord. A teacher and home maker… Mummy Nairn, as she was always called, was the Heart of our family. A loving, giving, kind, sweet person. She would have given her last to anyone in needed. Sometimes I would ask her “Mummy, why do you always give away what you need?” She would say “Dwayne ,when you give, God will return to you Tenfold”. I never understood this concept, until I saw the evidence for myself. My mother was a great women who will be missed by many. She came into this world with a purpose. Her reward is in heaven. So heaven called her Home. I am proud to have called her my Mother. She was an example for all to follow. And one day we will see her again. R.I.P Mummy Nairn, your work on earth is finally done. Heaven Must Have Needed a Mother There is so many things about mom I will miss. Her smile, hugs and tender Kiss
I still can feel her warm embrace. And picture of her loving Face. A mothers tasks is never done, And Heaven must have needed one. For angels came and took her hand. And led her to God’s Promised Land. I’m sure she’s very busy up there. Making grits for everyone to share. And making sure they’re dressed just right. Not staying out too late at night. Although there’s sadness, this I know. She waiting there, her face a glow. I close my eyes and I can see. Her arms wide I open, waiting for me. Love You Mummy

A Tribute to An Absolute Gem… MY MOTHER
This is the most difficult thing I have ever had to do... having to say goodbye to an amazing woman I am proud to call my mother. Words cannot express the emptiness I have felt since you've been gone Mummy Nairn. In a world where heroes come and go, God just took the only one I know. Since dad's passing 14 years ago, you have become more than just a caring mother; you became a dear friend. I was your 'Dorothy' and you were my 'Sophia'. I was certain we would be silver-haired together, but God had other plans. I will forever miss your kind heart, giving spirit, sense of humor, willingness to always help anyone, and your encouraging nature. You were my biggest and sometimes only supporter and loudest cheerleader. Mummy Nairn, if I could be one tenth of the woman you were, I would consider myself blessed beyond measure. It is because of your example of a true Proverbs 31 woman, that I strive to be a better person.
I WILL FOREVER MISS… -Our late night talks in my office as I worked well into the mornings -Our numerous hours online shopping -Decorating together for some church event or the other, always on an impossible budget -Searching through countless shows on Netflix until I found "something appropriate" for you to watch -Styling you for church every Sunday morning, -Annoyingly joining in as you sang or hummed your 'ole school' songs which you thought I didn't know -Your infectious smile, your loving kiss, your warm embrace, all of it I will miss. So I'll hold our memories as close as I can, longing for the day when I can see your precious face again. Until then... God must have needed another angel around the throne tonight, your love lives on inside me and I will hold on tight. It’s not my place to question, only God knows why, I'm just jealous of the angels around the throne tonight.
Oh Mummy Nairn, I long to hear your voice again, just to hear you say I love you. To hear you ask if anymore Okra soup, or if I bake anything today. I wish I could hear you call on Monday and Wednesday to remind me and Dwayne to pick you up from work. Oh how I wish I could see you sitting on the porch again. You were the only person who could
get me to bake something one hour before lock down. Oh how I wish I
could see your BIG bright smile again. I love to see you light up, when you’re helping someone or feeding the nation, something you enjoyed so much. Oh how I love to watch you make the people in church pay for their own shoes to raise money, Dollar march would will never be the same without you. Something you always said to me, Co you can't just pray, you have to Fast and Pray. I'm going to miss the old stories and the secrets we shared. You were my vacation shopping Buddy. You were truly one of the top Givers of this world. You would feed the nation and give your last to the poor. I like to hear you say Co I just like doing things for people, because that's how I get my blessings and you were truly blessed. Oh Mummy Nairn I wish I could see you again, hear you pray again, smell your cooking again, hear you say I love you again, I wish I could cook okra soup for you again, banana bread and conch fritters and to kiss you again. Oh how glad I would be, but I will always hear your voice because you will always be in my heart. Thank you for being my second Mummy and thank you for giving me the best husband ever. We all knew that you were never the same after Daddy Nairn passed, so we all played our part in trying to make you happy. Oh what a different Happiness and Joy you must have waking up in the arms of your Heavenly Father. Psalms 4 vs 8 I will lay down in peace and sleep for thou Lord make me to dwell in safety. Take your well-deserved rest in the arms of your heavenly father, and I will see you again.

q My Dear Mother(In-Law) Our Dearest Mommy Nairn UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN
A light from my life is gone, a voice I loved is still, A place is vacant within my heart, which can never be filled. A bouquet of beautiful memories, sprayed with a million tears, I wish God could have spared you if just for a few more years. I hold you close within my heart and there you will remain, to walk with me throughout my life until we meet again. So continue to rest in peace my dear mother-in-law, and thanks for having me in your life. I know God has given you a crown you’ve truly won. Your vacant place no one can fill, I miss you now and always will.

To My Beloved Grandmother
Growing up as the eldest Granddaughter you taught me how to be seen and not heard; but never to allow anyone to take advantage of me. When it came to A Proverbs 31 Woman, you were always the first in my thoughts. You took care of your husband, children and the community. There was never a task that was too great or small, you gave of yourself with compassion and humility; many days you weren't well yet you pressed pass the feeling to be there for everyone. You lived by the adage if I can help somebody as I pass along my living will not be in vain. I hope to be able to walk in your shoes as a wife and mother. I will miss our rides, calls, stale rows, food store and pharmacy runs. Thank you for being there for me through it all. You pushed me into purpose and today I am better because of your blessing. I know you would've been ‘deck’ out at my wedding, but you'll be there in spirit. Now you can truly enjoy praising your savior all the day long.. Blessed Assurance Jesus is Yours! Heaven has gained an Angel in my Grand Mother Agnes…Rest Easy,
Words cannot express how much we miss your presence. For the many nights you cried and prayed for our protection, I am forever grateful. You have always loved and cherished your family and we love you even more for that. Losing you was unimaginable for every family member and friend that knew and grew to love you. I thank God for allowing us the privilege of having you in our lives and K'Liyah will always remember her ‘Mommy Nairn’. I may not ever understand why you were called home so soon, but the Heavenly Father knows all things. You are now resting in the arms of the Savior, and for that, I am comforted. Thank you for being an extraordinary mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Sleep on my sweet angel and know that we will see each other again. 'Love you always.
Keniece & K’Liyah Mommy Nairn, we still sit in disbelief. That you are gone. Your sweet smile and laughter now only a memory. If given one more moment with you, we’d tell you that We love you so much for everything you’ve done. If roses grow in Heaven Lord pick a bunch for us. Place them Mommy Nairn’s arms. Tell her there from us. Tell her that we love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile place a kiss upon her cheek, and hold her for a while. Because remembering her is easy, We do that everyday. But there an ache in our heart that will never go away.

A TRIBUTE TO (Great Grandmother)
To Mummy Nairn OUR PRECIOUS GRANDMOTHER
We're not that old to understand; but we know you will guide us all of lives through. You were the best to us!
From our very first day on the earth, you blessed us. Teaching us about the Lord and his ways. Although we may have often strayed you didn't give up on us. Every morning and evening you called our names in prayer asking for God's guidance and protection. It was through your fervent prayers we are here today. You celebrated our accomplishments and was the proudest grandmother. We were so privileged to have called you our own. No matter how much older you got we were never allowed to call you Grammy. Thank you for all of the good days, fond memories, hugs and smiles that we will forever hold dear. Until we meet again Mummy Nairn enjoy singing around the throne with Daddy Nairn.

Today is a celebration of home going for our sister, Agnes, “Tiny”, “Sister Act” … these were the names we called her. To us, she had a sense of humor. She loved to laugh and make others laugh around her. She will be missed. As sisters, in earlier years, Ethel and Agnes sang together in the gospel singing group “The Jubilee Singers” and travelled throughout the Bahamas together singing at many gospel concerts. In later years, it’s Shelia and Agnes who would attend choir practice together, and sing together in the Convention Choir. But the three sisters were well known for travelling to Eleuthera together for Convention and making sure never to go empty handed. It was a pleasure for us to be around her. We truly thank God for the time He allowed us to spend together in family fellowship. There were times we shared sometimes laughing and sometimes crying, sometimes dancing and sometimes praising and thanking the Lord together. She will be missed but we know that she is resting in the arms of Jesus. She just made it a step before us but Ag can’t crown Him until we get there. Sleep on Tiny!

q A TRIBUTE TO
Certainly, you deserved a tribute which registered your special qualities, and I trust this would help your children remember the good times they shared with you. Thanks to my muse for helping me rise to face every challenge in the faith. My dearest Aunt Aggie, what a blessing and privilege it was to have you as a part of our family. How I idolized you as a child, baking those lovely cakes to sell on Saturday evenings in my grandmother’s yard. I took a delight to watch you and because of you I stared baking too. You were a well-rounded individual; A great cook your grits and fish was of the chain. You did everything lovingly. You gave so much of your time, money, talents, clothes, hats, shoes, bags, and the list goes on. Just a week before you went to sleep you gave me a gift and I thank you for it, you replied “and don’t give it away”! Because I’m just like you. We enjoy giving to others, I will cherish the necklace, bag, handkerchief, and not give it away. Oh! How you loved your family and your church. Many didn’t give you the respect you deserved, but you loved anyway. They could not break your spirit of love no matter what was said, or done you did the righteous thing, you would help even your enemies. Aggie you have left a remarkable legacy here on earth. Know that you will never be forgotten and always loved by all of us in the family. I was so privileged to have you as my very special, mischievous and funny Aunt. When we came by your house you made us laugh and that meant so very much to us, you were such an important and unique person to our family. Aggie you were more than a Martha you were a devoted Mary too. Praying in church was your delight. As a youth I recall you singing in the choir, and with The Original Jubilee Gospel Signers. You rarely missed church all your life. Family and friends took it for granted that you stood in the kitchen ready to cook, you were a true model of Martha, serving with joy that comes from above, everything seasoned with your favourite love. You gave it your best in services to your Lord and saviour while here on earth. I know you left no regrets because you lived well. You spoke your mind but never held a grudge, you loved people. I am happy that you were my Aunt, and your qualities of giving is in me. We know Acts 20:35 says “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. Certainly, you deserved a tribute, you were a blessing to so many families, and friends here in Nassau, Eleuthera, Abaco etc. I am so grateful that someday we will see you again and get to spend eternity with you. q TRIBUTE TO
DEACON AGNES NAIRN MY BIRTHDAY BUDDY, SISTERHOOD PAL AND SPECIAL FRIEND
While passing through our earthly life, we make many lasting friendships that enable us to bear our burdens better in times of joy or in sorrow. Such friends are there for us whenever there’s a need. That was a Christian Lady named Agnes Nairn! From the moment I met her, our spirits joined in heavenly love and continued throughout our time together. She always wore a bright, broad smile that made it easy to approach and work along with her. Our relationship began when she and I met at our Sisterhood, The Bahamas Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows BAMWMW. It was as the saying goes, “Love at first sight!” Sister Nairn and I worked together in the Sisterhood as members of the Decoration Committee – a faithful soul that one could always depend upon! Whenever there was a function, all I had to do was to give her a call, arrange the day and time, and she was there. Shavon, her daughter, joined us and together we had that hall looking like a ballroom fit for royalty! Thank you Shavon for a job well done! It wasn’t long before I found out something extra special about our relationship! Our birthday was on the same day in July – July 5th! I am two years older than her – I was born in 1940 and she was in 1942! She was my Birthday Buddy and would invite me to her birthday party whenever we celebrated our big day together! I’m missing her already and cannot imagine not seeing her pleasant smile again! This awful pandemic has taken her life but the times we spent together will live on forever. Sleep on my dear friend; my birthday buddy; my sister in the BAMWMW and as Pastors’ Widows! You deserve a good rest! You’ve worked hard and long serving as a Minister’s wife and then a Pastor’s wife and even when your husband died, you continued to serve around Vision of Hope Church of God Yamacraw the church built during your husband’s pastorate. As if that was not enough, each day except Friday, you could be seen distributing items of clothing and food to those in need. I have no doubt you’ll hear that welcome call,
“Well done my child! Well done!” FROM

TRIBUTE FOR
DEACON AGNES NAIRN
From The Bahamas Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows

Revelation 14:13 say, “And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” An organizer, prayer warrior, well-dressed, fun loving sister and friend, was our dear sister Deaconess Agnes Nairn. She was an active member of The Bahamas Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows and she served faithfully over the years. As a woman of prayer, she served as the Chaplain of the Association from 2014 - 2016. She was chosen to be our special ambassador when she became the Minister’s Widow of the Year 2011 – 2012. Ecclesiastes 9:10 says, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.” Whenever Sis. Nairn was given an assignment to do in our Association, she did it with all her might. She would give of her time, resources and talents to ensure what she did was done with excellence. This was evident in the last major event we held, the Annual Valentine Dinner 2019 at the Harold Nairn Activity Centre. Sis. Nairn and her family transformed that hall with their special touch and it was a work of beauty. She had a knack for decorating and this she did with pride at all of our major events. She also loved to cook and we will missed her scrumptious conch and grits that she prepared for our Annual Potluck Dinners. Sis. Nairn loved to travel and she loved to praise the Lord. She took many trips with us to the International Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows Annual Conventions in the various states. She also travelled to attend our Local Conferences in Cat Island. It was during one of these trips that it became evident to me how much Sis. Nain loved to praise the Lord. I can see her now shouting and praise the Lord during the concert. She danced so much until she danced her shoes off. Sis. Nairn will always hold a special place in our hearts and it is hard to believe she is gone. We will miss her beautiful smile, words of encouragement and her care. If we never meet again this side of Heaven, we look forward to meeting her again on that beautiful shore.
