kampung kubu settlements start from south of the site

the place was initially known as kampung jambu or tanjung jambu. during the pahang civil war fought from 1857 to 1863, many malays fled to the neighbouring states kelantan, selangor and perak dato haji mustapha bin raja kamala, from raub, led a group and landed at kampung jambu when he was made the penghulu, he named the place kampung kubu. tanjung malim was officially chosen as the location of the college because it met all the requirements: fertile land, proximity to the railway, roads, and river networks, as well as a population of moderate number

the first masjid jamek was located at kampung kubu when sitc was set up, it was not able to accommodate the increasing number of pious muslims, so a new mosque was built in 1926 at the current site it was designed by british architect and opened by dymm paduka sultan iskandar shah on 15 june 1926 t/m reached its pinnacle in 1922 and it was known as an education town. cheong ah peng, the father of kalumpang came to malaya in search of tin. with his fortune, he developed the town by building shophouses, school, temple, bus station and police station.

new railway station, telekom building / proton city
establishment of the proton city and with upgrading of railway station, has transformed the once sleepy tanjung malim into a centre of manufacturing and high value services. it has become the main sub-regional centre of the southern region of the state of perak
kubu settlement
bernam river was named after six friends who swam up from the source of the river The word "bernam" comes from "berenam"
the bugis community planted jambu fruit trees along the river bank and the area is referred to as kampung jambu raja kecil's plan to set up one of its kubu, fort along the river
the gee hin-hai san triads conflict in ipoh drew the chinese community to this village the chinese hokkien clan built two rows of shop houses which formed the pillar of the town

1913-1922 the first teacher training center in malaya was located in taiping (matang teacher training college) In 1913, shifted to tanjung malim and given the name of sultan of perak (1922), sultan idris training college (sitc)
1950 and 60s malaysian teachers were sent to uk for their training in the 1950s and 60s
1987 the curriculum taught at sitc is concerned with basic agriculture and handicraft mpsi was upgraded and renamed institut perguruan sultan idris - ipsi (new courses leading to degree by upm)

ipsi was upgraded into the present-day university and renamed sultan idris education university- upsi
