Unit C promotes design and thinking approaches that may programme urban settings to create a more tranquil environment. These design implications for communities may provide humanitarian assistance and resilience programmes while also safeguarding existing sustainable development. Through architectural interventions, the urban site could be a solution for a larger framework of community in promoting peace and injecting resilience among them. Each group will conduct a site analysis which includes layering diagrams and a written analysis of designated topics to be compiled into an ‘A4 Catalogue’ format (portrait). Next, each group will produce an ‘abstraction model of reaction’ (size A1) based on the designated site studies to support the catalogues.

The suggested interventions on these laneways are related to the public domains. They are examined in various parts of Kuala Lumpur. This research contributes to our design programme by elucidating the distinctive balance between individual laneways and their urban surroundings, as well as the laneway-specific issues. The suggestions will seek to design a temporary, portable structure which can also be detachable or transportable. Examples of interventions that can be proposed: eatery area, meeting spot, pop-up library, art installation, meditation space, and so on. Please refer to- https://www.pps.org (PROJECT FOR PUBLIC SPACES). The idea can accommodate between 2-10 people and requires little maintenance. For example, a meditation cabin for 2 persons that can be deployed to any flood-prone neighbourhoods in Kuala Lumpur that lack essential amenities and shelter

You need to produce a thorough research based on selected literature reviews via drawing or model of an A1 size to illustrate your architectural reaction based on the following themes: FLASH FLOOD, CITY MAKING & URBAN TRAFFIC. These narrations act as a vital methodology for driving architectural thinking through reading and design exploration. You will be asked to interpret your narratives based on the chosen theme and design procedures with the aim of imagining your own speculative design solutions. Ultimately, you will learn how to define the setting and building design, and to create a compelling architectural concept.

84 Speculative Model The Pillar The individual roots all join together to form one strong trunk which is the pillar. Just in this manner, for successful city it is important for the individuals in the different communities in city to set aside all their differences and act as one united community. When they unite together, they themselves become a pillar upholding the success and the ideologies the led to this success. The more united the indiviuals are, the stronger the pillar is. The Timeless Manner The Infinity sign represents the importance of timeless concepts inorder for the city to have continuous success. For a successfull Clean City even, the concepts of Reuse, Reduce and Recycling has to be practised continuously, not just until it becomes flourishing city but even fter that, in order to maintain this clean environment. This cannot be possible without the help of the citizens of the city, which is why their unity is important in upholding this ideology. The Diversity Diversity here we are meaning the sense of diversity in the building usage. For city to have its timeless success, it needs to have this diversity throughout the city, instead of seperating different building usages in to different areas, so that the ideas or the concepts of the city developments are practiced equally in all areas throughout the city instead of just some area. How diversity does this is by bringing more activities in all area, which in turn attracts people to these activities, then these people will be the ones to practice the ideas.

Main programmes- Through the process of extracting and abstracting done in previous projects (P1 and P2), students have narrowed down their scope of study, site responses and literature review to a more personalised narrative form. Prior to the three (3) project themes: URBAN TRAFFIC, FLASH FLOOD & CITY MAKING, the formulation of ideas and project approaches will result in variations of building typologies. The Living Complex Components (Approximately 30% of the Built-Up Area)SEMESTER 6 ONLY- Depending on the suggested programmes, the living component may consist of several typologies (hostels, studio units, twin sharing, common housing etc). Examples of accommodation with shared common facilities (to accommodate not more that 60 pax): Shelter for the needy, Workers’ accommodation and other building typologies that can act as income generating component.

106 Observation KL Forest Park St John’s Institution Dataran Merdeka Site o1 Methodist Boy’s Sec. School SK (L) Methodist KL Butterfly Park KL Bird Park Tmn Megalith Petronas Stadium Merdeka Road River Site 01 was surrounded by high-rise buildings, with the majority of the buildings being mixed-use. The site's accessibility by public transportation is a strength. There are also a few Art & Culture establishments nearby, such as the National Textile Museum, which is just next to Site 01, and the Central Market, which is directly across the Klang River. The lack of greenery and vegetation at the site, as well as the way the greenery was "isolated" by the main road, are its weaknesses. A large portion of the green spaces were situated on the west side of Site 01. There are extremely few green spaces for public usage on the east side, and those that do exist are mostly used for private purposes. While the east is a concrete forest city, the west is mainly naturegreen forests.
