Life is a cycle through the entire spectrum of colour. I travel into the darkness of my soul, sitting in contemplation with what hides deep inside. I sit and wait for a glimmer of light, a shimmering path of joy that leads me out of the void. My awakening. My rebirth.

The really cool thing about creating something from nothing is that there are no boundaries. No one to say... you can’t do that! My original idea for this magazine was to focus on visual artists ... but when Ritu approached me about participating in the magazine... that concept was challenged.

After chatting with her I was so enchanted by her joy-filled personality... I needed to have her involved somehow. Imagine my surprise when she was open to creating a special performance dedicated to the colour black! We had a brief conversation about the philosophy behind this colour and then she ran with it.

In true Bollywood style she delivered an emotional, exciting, fun choreographed production complete with top hats and multiple locations. When she sent me the preview I was in awe of what she had accomplished in such a short period of time! I was quite emotional as well. It was overwhelming that someone I barely knew would do such a beautiful thing to support this new and growing community of artists.

Thank you Ritu and all of your dancers for honouring the inaugural edition in this way. xo Amy Barroso
