Originally from London, Ontario I studied graphic design and advertising and moved on to work various jobs in graphic and marketing while continuing to practise painting as a hobby. I have an abstract, modern style inspired by a mix of nature and urban landscapes. I like to use art as an escape or a form of relaxation, I am constantly experimenting with new techniques.

When I set out to create this piece, I chose a bright colour palette to counter-balance the dark days of winter that are coming. When I added the accents of copper, I envisioned Mother Earth, empowered. Metals are strong, so I think ‘industrial and big machines’ but the colour of copper is earthy so instead I envisioned the strength and power of machines attributed to the earth. I find incorporating copper into my work adds an ‘earthy/organic’ feel to the overall modernity of the painting.
