‘ The most ambitious theatre in Liverpool’ TheGuardian

Welcome Back! Unity has always supported and developed new artists and companies. The early work of acclaimed national companies including Told By An Idiot, Forced Entertainment and Hull Truck have performed on our stage. This season we’ll be showcasing six exciting new Liverpool companies. Encompassing new writing, physical theatre, multi-media and comedy, they’re created with the help of our Making Art programme (see page 24 to find out more!). Homotopia celebrates 21st century LGBT life with an array of the queer, the extravagant, the bold, the unexpected and the daring. Meanwhile our collaboration with the Liverpool Irish Festival brings the leading interpreters of Samuel Beckett, the acclaimed Gare St. Lazare Players, to our stage. For families don’t miss a colourful story of magic, genies and the high seas as unity’s family show The Voyages of Sinbad The Sailor swoops in this Christmas on its flying carpet! These are tough times for the arts, but the spirit of creativity is defiantly strong, and we welcome you to be amongst those who can say - “I saw them at unity first!” Graeme Phillips | Artistic Director Become our fan: unitytheatre Follow our tweets: unitytheatre Read our blog: unitytheatre.wordpress.com Watch our videos: youtube.com/unitytheatre 2 | boxoffice: 0844 873 2888

In 2000 she was passed to a diplomat’s family in London where she escaped, only to face a new struggle for asylum and freedom. Sensitively told by a terrific ensemble it is a theatrical feast of storytelling, music, a capella singing and dance, celebrating the ancient Nuba culture and Mende’s indomitable spirit and humour in the face of adversity. “an intense, triumphant piece of theatre, brilliantly conceived and executed, a theatrical experience I implore you not to miss”  City Life Feelgood Theatre Productions
