Student Profile – – – –

A reflective, critical spirit. An interest in other cultures. Concern for the progress of society. The ability to listen, converse and work as part of a team.

The curriculum for the Degree in Humanities comprises a varied yet carefully balanced mixture of philosophy, literature, modern languages, history, art, geography, sociology and psychology. This is because a knowledge of Western history and the schools of thought that have influenced its current configuration and its artistic and cultural expression, as well as an awareness of other cultures, enables students to approach the modern world with an open mind and exercise critical thinking while discovering development opportunities for themselves and their immediate environment.

It promotes an outward focus with one obligatory exchange and one optional exchange. It is innovative and includes up to eight seminars featuring international speakers with the aim of bringing an international perspective to the degree programs. It encourages students to conduct a research stay in another country. It includes a Final Year Project in English.

Our obligatory and/or optional internships enable students to make contact with the professional world, which helps them discover the wide range of career opportunities open to them. We have partnership agreements with over 100 cultural organizations in and outside Spain.

Professional Opportunities Due to its interdisciplinary nature, the Degree in Humanities ranks among the most versatile and flexible programs and enables its graduates to enjoy full and varied professional lives. Many Humanities graduates find work in the so-called “new economy,” of which culture, in the broadest sense of the term, is one of the largest areas. At present, the majority of our graduates (60%) work in the business world. The fields of marketing and human resources in particular are recruiting increasing numbers of Humanities graduates, owing to their specialist training. A further 20% work in cultural management, a field that is experiencing rapid growth. Another popular professional destination for many of our graduates (around 13%) is teaching, thanks to their extensive training in areas such as languages, literature, history, philosophy, psychology, geography, art and anthropology.
