National General Certificate The NEBOSH National General Certificate is a qualification that is being run jointly by University of Chichester and University of Portsmouth.
Course Content The course is designed to help those with health and safety responsibilities to delegate more effectively their organisational duties and functions. The syllabus is divided into 3 parts: • Part A1: The identification and control of hazards • Part A2: The management of safety • Part B: The practical assessment Assessment is by an end examination comprising of two written papers (Papers A1 and A2) and a practical assessment (Part B). The practical assessments consist of carrying out a safety inspection of a workplace and preparing a management report.
Who is the course for? The NEBOSH National General Certificate is a qualification designed to help those with health and safety responsibilities (e.g. managers, supervisors and employee representatives) to discharge more effectively their organisational duties and functions. The NEBOSH National General Certificate is not a qualification for health and safety specialists, who should seek to obtain a professional qualification such as the NEBOSH National Diploma.

NEBOSH The NEBOSH National General Certificate meets the academic requirements for Technician membership (TechIOSH) of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and Associate membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
