MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT University of Dammam and through the strategic partnership project with Thomson Reuters aims to provide all university stakeholders (internal) with necessary support and tools in order to achieve the ultimate research objective of UOD, which is boosting research. In order to accomplish the objective, a strategic plan should be established and implemented to lead the path. In the aforementioned project, the strategic planning phase of the project that is launched in March, 2015 will support and accompany Deans, Department Chairmen, Faculty or Research groups as well as individual researchers in to take through

this pathway towards the best performance. Strategic planning will be effective and valuable if capitalized over the internal stakeholders. So each College and Department will has to build his own strategic plan tracing his vision to success based on Kingdome national plan, faculty numbers, and discipline, inter disciplinary research etc. Hope the plan achieves its goals to drive the Faculty and UOD to the proper prestigious position they deserve both nationalty internationalty.

MESSAGE FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR HIGHER STUDIES & SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH Acting on behalf the president H. E. Prof. Abdullah Al-Rubaish and a result of Strategic Partnership between University of Dammam and Thomson Reuters, efforts exerted for the unification of UOD variants affiliations, the University Of Dammam has a remarkable presence among national universities. UOD has 1947 documents in the Web of Science back from 1977 and up to 2015. UOD received total of 9476 citations for documents published between 1977 and 2015. According to TR InCites data, National level order of UOD has been upgraded 27th to 5th position with respect to WOS documents and to 13th position with respect to Citation. Although these numbers are important, however they are not sufficient enough to enter in to the race for the ranking and visibility on the

international level. This situation needs immediate actions on all levels in the UOD (Deans, Chairman, Faculty and Researchers, etc.) in order to boost the scientific research outcome and value thus enhancing the international branding of Faculty, which in turns enhance international ranking of UOD. By being highly cited and internationally visible, the faculty members get opportunities to join international Scientific Societies; International Journals as review board members and editors; International review Panels for Grants and for PhD theses, etc. Faculty members and researchers are the new Brand Manager of UOD and faculty enhancement will put UOD among international leading universities. INTRODUCTION University Of Dammam has engaged in a Strategic Partnership with Thomson Reuters, in order to promote Faculty Branding and visibility, the international reputation and prestige of academic output of the UOD, international credibility of cutting edge scientific research, and continuous improvement in international ranking. To achieve this goal, a long-term strategic planis needed.This strategic plan has two main strategic outcomes; 1. Dynamic Strategic Planning which includes: 1.1. Support meetings with Deans, Department Chairmen 1.2. Training / workshops for researchers, postgraduate students and faculty members 1.3. Training/ workshops for UOD trainers 2. Implementation of Dynamic Strategic Planning which will be started from 2016 and continued till 2019, God Willing. OBJECTIVES • Selection of Publishing Venue

This strategic plan enables faculty members and researchers to choose the appropriate publishing venue for their research efforts.

• International Visibility

Publishing articles in authenticated indexed journals will facilitate the international visibility of publication and increase the citations, which in turn enhance the Global ranking of UOD. This will also be reflected in the promotion, project funding and research excellence award of the faculty members and researchers.

• Internationalization of UOD

Through the internationalization, UOD can connect its Colleges, Deanships, Faculty members, Researchers and Students to a globalizing world. Thus, UOD will be transformed into a truly global higher education research institute

1st Message Dear Faculty members and Researchers, As you know, UOD & Thomson Reuters Web of Science (WOS) is providing access to multidisciplinary research connected through linked content citation. In order to accelerate the advancement of research with international standards and drive faculty branding, UOD encourages al l the faculty members to publish in WOS indexed journals. WOS will increase the visibility of published articles, improve citation, and increase h-index and reputation of researchers in the scientific community. Published articles in WOS will support faculty evaluation, enhance academic promotion, reward excellence, high reputation in the scientific and industrial community. Hence, UOD urges all faculty members and researchers to publish articles in highly cited WOS journals.

Dear Faculty members and Researchers, One of the objectives of UOD is to support and promote research activities of potential researcher who can contribute to original cuttingedge research. Research support and funding aim of improve the facility citation record and ranking of the University of Dammam. In order to achieve the objective of the UOD, all researchers shall only publish their articles in Web of Science indexed Journals and be aware about the journal selection process. Therefore, UOD is pleased to campaign journal selection process in the Web of Science.
