Events Management covers a wide range of skills. You’ll study the intricacies of branding, identifying the target audience, devising the event concept, planning the logistics and coordinating the technical aspects before you actually execute all your planning and hard work in the final event.

During your time on the course, you’ll be encouraged to engage with the event industry, through guest lectures, volunteering and also taking a leading role in organising them. It’s all about giving you the context and experience you will need to become an event manager in the future.

During your course, you’ll be taught by lecturers who have worked and researched in the industry. They will cover subjects such as creative thinking, business management, sustainability, human resource management, venue selection, catering and crowd management.

You’ll have the opportunity to study fascinating subjects in the industry such as:

• Virtual, digital and hybrid events - discover how they have grown exponentially since the start of the pandemic, you’ll learn about the technologies required, the future direction and the specific planning mechanism to hold successful hybrid events.

• Sustainability - this is a huge topic since the events industry pledged to be Net Zero by 2050 at COP26.

• Health and Safety Management along with Global Risk Mitigation and Contingency Planning.

• Event impacts and influences, both on the local community and the global economy.

• Managing suppliers, contractors and volunteers as part of planning and execution of events.

Placements

During your studies, we’ll give you the opportunity to undertake a placement with a business, either in the UK or abroad. Previous students have undertaken placements in companies like Awesome Events, Greenwich Country Club (USA), Sodexo, Wicked on Broadway, Team Spirit, BBC Good Food.

Your future
