Medical Biochemistry/ Medical Biochemistry with Research Placement BSc(Hons) Course info

Your course Biochemistry has played a vital role in the understanding of molecular processes that cause degenerative disease and cancer. Groundbreaking work in this field has led to knowledge of the structure of DNA, RNA and proteins, and holds promise of further breakthroughs in treatment in the future. During these courses you’ll be able to build a firm foundation of knowledge and skills from modules such as biochemistry and the molecular aspects of drug action. As your studies progress, you’ll be able to choose from modules such as epidemiology and public health, immunology and infection or genomics. During lab sessions you’ll also have the chance to gain practical experience using industry standard equipment. In your third year, you can try out your skills for real during a placement in industry or, if you choose Medical Biochemistry with Research Placement BSc(Hons), a supervised research placement. It’s all designed to help get you ready for a successful career beyond graduation.
