International Study Centre
Study for a preparatory course offered by Study Group at the International Study Centre (ISC). The ISC offers academic and English language preparation for international students who do not currently meet the University’s direct entry requirements.

Situated at the heart of the University’s Huddersfield town centre campus, ISC students can enjoy the same facilities and accommodation as other students at the University. This ensures you are made to feel a part of the University community from the day you arrive in Huddersfield. On successful completion of your preparation programme and achieving the required grades, you will progress automatically onto your chosen degree course at the University of Huddersfield, without having to apply again.
Our programmes
International Foundation Year
The International Foundation Year (IFY) is a specially designed programme that provides a direct path to undergraduate degree study at the University of Huddersfield. The programme allows you to progress to a variety of degrees at the University. There are four routes available: • Art, Media and Architecture • Business, Management and Law • Engineering, Computing and Science • Health and Human Sciences.
International Year One
The International Year One (IY1) is an advanced course of study equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree. The course has been carefully designed for students who are overqualified for the International Foundation Year but underqualified for direct entry to the first year of an undergraduate degree. Successful completion of the programme guarantees you direct entry to the second year of your chosen undergraduate degree. There are two routes available: • Business, Management and Marketing • Engineering and Computer Science.
Pre-Master’s Programme
The Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is a 12-week programme that will provide you with the necessary English language and study skills to succeed in a range of business-related postgraduate degrees at the University. A strong emphasis is placed on the British postgraduate educational system and the requirement for independent study. There is one route available: • Business, Management and Marketing. If you study the IY1 or PMP you are issued with a single visa which covers the duration of your studies at both the International Study Centre and the University of Huddersfield.
English Language Preparation
If you require additional language training before you start your International Foundation Year, you can join the English Language Preparation programme. This option provides entry to the International Foundation Year: • 12-week English Language Preparation:
Academic IELTS for UKVI of 4.0 (with 4.0 in all components).
Pre-Sessional English
International Year One and Pre-Master’s Programme students can join a Pre-Sessional English programme: • 8-week Pre-Sessional English
Programme: Academic IELTS for UKVI of 5.0 (with 5.0 in all components) • 12-week Pre-Sessional English
Programme: Academic IELTS for UKVI of 4.5 (with 4.5 in all components).
