Our experienced, diverse faculty and innovative degree paths promote the development of creative talent that suits each student’s personal interests and abilities. Students learn through the processes of designing, drawing, and making, learning to problem solve through design-thinking, taking advantage of a wide array of global study opportunities, community engagement, and collaborative research. Our graduates leave KU with educations that are significantly influenced by the practical input of architects and designers from major firms the world over. These employers consistently say that those who receive degrees from KU are not only able to contribute as soon as they begin work, but also quickly ascend to leadership positions. ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
ARCHITECTURE Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) Architecture students learn the art and science of building design. KU’s five-year degree admits high-school seniors directly into this intense and demanding studio-based degree program. Our students work closely alongside each other in small studios capped at 16 student and each student has their own desk on campus. Students receive relevant hands-on experiences through internships, design-build courses, and studies abroad, all of which are required. In the final year of the program, students engage in professional experiences ranging from global internships in Paris to our award-winning design-build course Studio 804.
During each academic year, students enrolled in Studio 804 design and construct a building of great technical sophistication. Since 2008, each project has been LEED Platinum Certified.
