Have you heard about the new Graduate visa? This gives eligible international students the opportunity to work, or look for work, in the UK for at least two years after they have successfully completed their studies. More information is available at gov.uk/graduate-visa

Apart from the obvious fact that is a good addition to your CV, it also helps you to appreciate and have a better understanding of what you have been taught in the classroom.

Here at Salford, we pride ourselves on giving our students the practical, industry experience that they need to succeed in their chosen career.

All of our courses offer opportunities to collaborate with industry, including hearing from guest speakers, live projects and field trips. Many of our courses also offer opportunities to undertake a work placement, which range from a few weeks to a year in length.

Our careers team will support you in finding the right placement for you, by helping you prepare your CV and improve your interview skills. Our careers team also develop relationships with employers to find the best placements opportunities for our students. Placements are competitive and require you to meet the employer’s entry criteria. You will be responsible for securing the placement yourself, but we will guide you in the process. If you take an optional paid placement year, you may need to extend your visa which will incur some extra charges from UKVI. PLACEMENTS ON UNDERGRADUATE COURSES

Many of our undergraduate courses offer a placement year, and for a lot of them, you will not pay fees to the University and will earn a salary for the work you do. This is a great way to put your learning into practice and gain work experience, so you can graduate with confidence. MASTER’S COURSES WITH A YEAR PLACEMENT

We also offer a range of master’s courses with an optional 9 -12-month placement. A placement can help you become more employable, expand your networks and you may also be paid for the placement. The master’s courses that offer a 9-12-month placement are: / MSc International Business / MSc Digital Marketing / MSc Operations Management / MSc Procurement Logistics & Supply Chain

Management / MSc Project Management / MSc Project Management in Construction

If you take a 9 – 12-month placement, you will need to pay an admin fee of £1,700*. You will need to extend your visa whilst in the UK, and there are some costs associated with this. You can check the course pages on our website for the full details.
