Medical Laboratory Science Medical laboratory scientists work in hospitals and laboratories performing and analyzing scientific blood and bodily fluid tests, often used to diagnose diseases or abnormalities. In larger organizations, lab scientists may specialize in specific areas, such as blood work. The Bureau of Labor Statistics lists the 2017 median pay for Medical and Clinical Laboratory Scientists as $51,770 per year, with an expectant 13 percent increase in employment for the profession between 2016–26. ACCREDITATIONS The University of St. Francis is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (hlcommission.org), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and is authorized to operate as a post-secondary institution by the Illinois Board of Higher Education (ibhe.org). Hospital affiliates of USF’s Medical Laboratory Science program are accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences
