Web Application Development Web Application Development focuses on implementation of automated business systems on the internet. This major prepares highly technical developers for a variety of positions in the world of business marketing for the World Wide Web. The Web Application Development major will give you the course work to prepare you for new challenges in the world of web technology.

Web development is not only planning a website, but also understanding and supporting the database technology, the planning of a system project and the network requirements.

This major incorporates the visual and oral communication aspects of web development with the technology components of networking and programming. Students in this program will be prepared to create well-designed websites and manage the creation of those websites and will also be prepared to implement and administer web servers.

The emphasis of the program is on the design and development of server applications, site planning, page creation, tools, and technologies for server automation and hosting options.

Web Application Development

My professors were ready to stay late and answer my questions, and I even had courses modified to more specifically include aspects of my web development degree. My classes were more than memorizing information— you learn how to think. And that is the most helpful tool in my career, as I am constantly introduced to problems where I do not have a scripted answer but I can research and troubleshoot until I discover the solution on my own.

With this degree, students can become successful web developers who understand both the front and back end of websites. Web application development includes designing websites and building and supporting their infrastructures. In other words, web developers make web pages and install and maintain the servers and networks that allow these web pages to be accessible to users. Web developers can work for organizations of any size, and can also work as freelancers, which can allow for greater flexibility and work-life balance.

University of St. Francis students are encouraged to combine practical experience with their college curriculum. Employers say they often look for students who have an internship on their resume, therefore, internships are a significant part of the USF experience. Internships will allow Web Development majors to get experience in real-life situations. Web Development majors will also get experience in the classroom, with projects that give them hands-on experience with the tools and resources being used in businesses today. One thing is certain: The University of St. Francis will be sure you are prepared for ultimate success in the working world after graduation.
