Business Analytics Business analytics refers to the skills, technologies, practices for continuous iterative exploration and investigation of past business performance to gain insight and drive business planning. Business analytics focuses on developing new insights and understanding of business performance based on data and statistical methods.
ACCREDITATIONS The University of St. Francis is accredited by both the Higher Learning Commission (hlcommission.org) and the Illinois Board of Higher Education (ibhe.org).
Business analytics depends on data quality, the skill of analysts who understand the technologies and the business, and an organizational commitment to using data to gain insights that inform business decisions. Business analytics makes extensive use of analytical modeling and numerical analysis, including explanatory and predictive modeling, and fact-based management to drive decision making. Analytics may be used as input for human decisions or may drive fully automated decisions. Business Analytics is a growing degree at most universities and is needed in the business environment. Students need Business Analytics programs and courses to support their business success in the marketplace while they identify and analyze patterns in data via visualization, statistical analysis, and data analytics.

customer experience, and productivity. Business Analytics takes the vast amounts of data available to a company and converts it into actionable insights. Decisions are therefore more informed and can result in great benefits for a company. A degree in Business Analytics can lead to an exciting and lucrative career! Carol A. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of business and data analyst occupations is projected to grow 27.9% from 2016 to 2026—much faster than the average for all occupations. That will result in approximately 50,400 new jobs. Although this group includes only four detailed occupations, three of the four (marketing research analysts, statisticians, and actuaries) are among the top 30 fastest growing occupations as we approach 2026, and all can be pursued with a Business Analytics degree. In addition, Bureau of Labor Statistics May 2019 data indicated that management analysts make a mean annual salary of $95,560.
Faculty members and administrators in USF’s College of Business & Health Administration are extremely involved in the regional business community. That means they’ve got connections, and they’re constantly being exposed to companies offering impressive internship opportunities. So many, in fact, that there are typically more opportunities than students to fill them! This is a key advantage to becoming a business major at USF. While not a requirement for graduation, internships are strongly encouraged because they offer junior and senior students invaluable real-world learning experiences. Most internships are paid experiences (though some are unpaid) and involve 10–25 hours of work per week for academic credit.
