Within the School of Psychology, you will find excellent scientists producing pioneering, award-winning research. Our academics’ research includes work in behavioural genetics, and interventions to improve education, emotions, wellbeing, brain functions and cognition. We strive to understand better mental health in children, adolescents and adults.
Our Psychology BSc course is one of only a few in the UK that offers a Professional Training placement year, providing students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge to people-facing environments and gain work experience in an area of personal interest. And our employability record speaks for itself: 95% of our undergraduate psychology graduates are in employment or full-time study.*

Hamed
Psychology BSc (Hons)
“I completed my Professional Training placement year at the Oasis Nurture Project, managed by Oasis Charitable Trust. I’d definitely recommend doing a placement - I got to apply and practise the academic learning I’d done at Surrey to topics such as attachment and behaviour theories and child development. Most importantly, I identified my strengths and weaknesses, not only as a student but as an employee.”

Sophia Health Psychology PhD
“I knew Surrey had great facilities, support systems, and a super friendly and welcoming School of Psychology. All of which I have experienced first-hand. The campus is also a beautiful, leafy environment – I live in London and such university campuses are rare!”
