I chose Surrey because it’s one of the leading universities in the area, well known for its research and excellent staff. The campus has everything you need, including coffee shops, restaurants, a bookstore, computer labs, a gym and even a lake! My favourite place to study on campus is the Library – it’s a peaceful, stylish, vibrant and productive workspace. The teaching on my course is concentrated over a few days each week, leaving plenty of flexibility to organise my study schedule and family commitments. I feel positive that my course will be an excellent foundation for my second career.

“All the staff on my course are extremely approachable and friendly, and I’ve never felt that I couldn’t approach them with an academic or course-related question. The external lecturers have also been very responsive, despite having a professional career outside of the University. I feel this is because all the lecturers are extremely passionate about what they do and love the opportunity to share their knowledge. The facilities at Surrey are impressive, particularly the radiation lab which offers capabilities to conduct a wide range of radiation physics experiments such as blood labelling, thermoluminescence dosimetry and gamma ray spectroscopy.”

The student diversity at Surrey made me comfortable here and I didn’t feel out of place. There are so many clubs and societies, there’s always something happening around which helps students interact with people outside of their course or accommodation. Lastly, London being so close to the university opens so many opportunities. It’s been the best year of my life! JAIN Digital Marketing and Channel Management MSc
YASHIKA
During my university search, I didn’t find a university that offered modules like Surrey – such as modules in international fashion marketing and luxury branding, international retailing – hence Surrey was a clear choice for me. Its masters in Digital Marketing and Channel Management is the perfect balance of theoretical and practical modules which challenge the students to learn more and more.
The campus at Surrey is huge and beautiful, it offers so much to the students. Guildford is a very friendly and diverse town so it’s the best combination of country and city life.

At Surrey, we’re committed to sustainable research and setting ourselves ambitious targets to reduce our environmental We’veimpact.signed the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Accord to demonstrate our commitment to addressing the global challenges we face, including inequality, climate change and environmental degradation. We are ranked 55th in the world for our contribution to the SDGs through our research, operational initiatives and local and global
TEACHING We are committed to nurturing our graduates as future leaders in sustainability thinking and have a strategy to embed sustainability in all our programmes by 2024. We also offer two free extracurricular modules, the Global Graduate Award in Sustainability and the Introduction to Sustainability mini-course, so students can gain an in-depth understanding of the issues affecting our planet.
NET ZERO EMISSIONS BY 2030
REDUCING SINGLE-USE PLASTIC
RESEARCH Sustainability is one of Surrey’s key research themes, with organisations such as our Centre for Environment and Sustainability, the Global Centre for Clean Air Research, and the Institute for Sustainability conducting vital studies in this field.
Our students help shape our strategies through attending working groups meetings and steering committees. We offer a wide variety of engagement options, ranging from events, societies and volunteering opportunities.
We have a net zero carbon emissions target by 2030. To achieve it, we’re reducing our demand, increasing on-site renewable energy generation, increasing the amount of energy purchased from clean sources, and considering how we can offset remaining carbon emissions.
50+ loan bicycles have been installed across our campuses, encouraging students to travel by bike. A bike shop and cycle parking spaces are also available. 62
WORKING WITH STUDENTS
Our goal is to have all staff, students and visitors use reusable cups and bottles across campus. We’ve installed water refill points across campus, taken a pledge to replace single-use plastic cups with plant-based options, and introduced compostable packaging across our catering outlets. WATER We invest in projects that reduce our water use. An on-site borehole has been created on our Stag Hill Campus to provide a clean, potable water supply of water, relieving pressure on local networks and reducing carbon emissions.
