What we consider in the application process Parkside completes a comprehensive review of each application we receive. Both academic and nonacademic factors presented in an application are used to make an admission decision. Academic preparation and academic success are of primary importance in the review process, with factors including academic rigor, grade point average (GPA), class rank, grade trends, and ACT/SAT test scores. Nonacademic factors may include leadership experience, community service, special talents and abilities, and personal characteristics that contribute to the strengths and diversity of the university. Additionally, transfer applicants’ academic records are reviewed based on a minimum 2.0 (4.0 system) cumulative grade point average with a minimum of 12 transferable credits. Students who are enrolled in their first semester or who will not complete 12 transferable credits are evaluated using new freshman admission criteria. The most competitive candidates for admission present positive factors in their application that are both academic and nonacademic.
