C House is the project for a new type of african house in Tanzania. The concept of the project is based on four main statements: feasibility, bond with the territory, environmental sustainability, innovation and sustainable development. In few word, the C House’s project is developed to be easy to be built, all material are local and “KM0” and the costs and time are extremely reduced. C House has a deep link with the territory because the goal is to improve building techniques and solutions starting from traditional and local needs. Moreover, the project is enriched by simple and very efficient solutions in order to have the best visual, thermal and aesthetic well-being. The house is located close to Nico’s house and partially on the land previously occupied by the two Huts of the plot: thanks to that, is will not be occupied “green” (not worn) field useful for crops or other good purposes. Finally, the house is oriented to have the best illumination for the sleeping area and the best view from the common living area. C House has a C plan developed around the central common area (outdoor kitchen and courtyard) and a perimetric front porch. Thus, all rooms have double overlooking, encouraging the crossed ventilation. There are six bedrooms (15 beds: signle, double and bunk beds) with the possibility of different dimensions using the sliding wall, hanging wardrobes (light hygienic choise), desks and chairs. On the opposite side of the sleeping area, there is the indoor kitchen, the storage room and the outside living room under the porch. On the southern side of the house, there are two dressing rooms. Two showers and two baths are located in a single water-self-efficient building. Finally, in front of the house there is the new cuttle, bigger that the other and with a covered area both for big and small animals. A rainwater collecting system (4 tanks, 1000 litres each) allows the family to have ordinary clean water. The toilet building catch rainwater and reuses water and solid human waste for fields and crops. All materials are local, the technology is innovative for the best comfort but deeply linked to traditional houses. Walls are made of self-made mud bricks, the roof system is made by local wood and metal sheets. The house is built synergy between local workers and the community thanks to its ease of construction and and economic accessibility.
