This is a distinction that only the top 5% of business schools attain. In addition to AACSB accreditation, Graduate School Hub© ranked FCBE among the “Top 25 Doctoral Programs in Business” in 2015 for all six concentrations of study offering opportunities for in-depth research and close collaboration with faculty.

Our faculty are experts in their field of expertise, not only as nationally recognized publishers in leading, peer-reviewed academic journals but also as editors and editorial board members for premier academic journals. This level of quality research has provided many faculty members with grants to support their research and PhD students.
Admission decisions Admission to the program is highly competitive as the pool of applicants continues to increase in capabilities and talents. Most students accepted are on a 9-month graduate assistantship that is awarded on a competitive basis. The award covers tuition costs and pays a monthly stipend. Selections are made in the best interest of both the applicant and the college based on an examination of the fit between the departmental program objectives and the applicant’s goals, as well as program capacity and graduate assistantship budget availability.

Requirements All applicants must meet both the University of Memphis and Fogelman College doctoral degree program admission requirements. Admissions requirements include, but are not limited to: • Academic record: Applicant’s grade point average should be 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 basis. • Testing: Applicants must present an acceptable score on a recent (five years or less) Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). • Recommendations: Three letters of recommendation are required from former professors, colleagues, and/or business executives. • Personal statement and resume: Applicants must submit a written statement of career plans and objectives no more than two-pages in length, and a current resume of academic and professional experiences. • Mathematics: Applicants must submit a transcript indicating the successful completion of a course in calculus. • Interview: Applicants may appear before the departmental admission committee for a personal interview. Prerequisites in the functional areas of business are determined by the department. A typical applicant has completed a master’s degree in business, economics, or other relevant discipline.
