DO MORE with your education. At UofM, we like to say an education isn’t something you get. It’s something you do. Did you know?
That’s because each day at UofM brings more than new lectures and assignments. It brings new opportunities. Not just to learn, but to experience. To create. Solve. Build. Tear down and start again. Grow, explore and express. And you get to be a part of it.

WELCOME TO
MEMPHIS. Let’s get to work. This is a city that has changed the world in more ways than one. Memphis sits at the crossroads of international commerce, culture and creativity. Memphians don’t sit around and wait for things to happen, they jump in and get their hands dirty. And UofM is no different. In fact, we consider the entire city an extension of our campus. The can-do, will-do spirit that powers Memphis permeates everything we do. We’re culturally diverse and complex. We’re an artistic force. We push boundaries and discover new ways of thinking. GET OUT OF the classroom.
Every year, 5,000 UofM students make their mark all over Memphis and beyond. To us, “experiential learning” isn’t some marketing buzzword. It’s real-world experience in real-world hospitals, galleries, government agencies, nonprofits, design firms, research labs and Fortune 500 offices. We don’t send you into the world looking to build a resume. We want you graduating with one.

OUR BLOOD runs blue.
Saturdays at Tiger Lane. Nationally-televised hoops at FedExForum. Doubleheaders at Tiger Softball Complex. Ask anyone around town, and you’ll discover UofM is much more than your average Division I college team. We’re the city’s beating heart. Here, the Tigers are a powerful symbol of everything that’s great about Memphis. Through good times and bad, winning streaks and losing seasons, Tiger sports rally the community and give people something to believe in. Spend any amount of time here, and we guarantee the Tigers will become your team, too. When your student ID gets you into any UofM Athletics event for free, why wouldn’t you go?

SAFETY
first.
Memphis is a big city. Every day, 1.3 million people crisscross this place we call home. You might think that safety would be a tricky issue at UofM, but we’re actually one of the safest campuses in the state. UofM main campus is bordered on three sides by no-through streets, which means most car and foot traffic is school-related. Every day, we work to create and maintain an environment where comfort, confidence and safety are paramount. And our efforts have paid off: we currently have the lowest crime rate of the 10 largest universities in Tennessee. In fact, our campus incident rate was almost 40 percent lower than those schools, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
• UofM police officers on duty 24/7, patrolling by car, bike and foot • 600 campus security cameras • Mass emails, text messages and an outdoor loudspeaker system during severe weather or other emergencies • Strategically placed outdoor emergency telephones • Tiger Escort program to accompany students, faculty, staff and visitors around campus after dark • L iveSafe® App - Enables direct and discreet two-way communication with UofM safety officials using text, picture, video and audio; features SafeWalk, which lets you virtually walk your friends home

AFFORDABLE
living
We didn’t forget about cost. Luckily, living on campus actually saves you more. All your payments are consolidated into one single bill. You’re only responsible for your portion of your living situation (no chasing down roommates for rent). No hidden fees, no hassles. There are plenty of different floor plans and locations to choose from: Apartments | Townhouses | Traditional Rooms & Suites | Family Housing memphis.edu/reslife
DIVERSIFIED
dining
Whether it’s a snack or an entire meal, we keep up with what’s nutritious and popular, offering something for every appetite. Tiger Dining offers 19 locations around campus. Some favorite spots include: Chick-fil-A | Subway | Starbucks | Panda Express | Steak ’n Shake | Dunkin’ Donuts | Taco Bell tigerdining.com

INVEST IN yourself.
College is expensive, there’s no denying that. We believe a lack of funds should never get in the way of getting an education — especially in a bustling, vibrant city like Memphis — which is why there are a multitude of ways to pay for it at UofM. In fact, nearly 97 percent of our full-time freshmen students receive some sort of financial aid. And once you’re enrolled, we have programs and initiatives dedicated to keeping you in school. We want you here. • Head to memphis.edu/scholarships to see which scholarships may be right for you. • Live in Tennessee? See if you qualify for the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship at tn.gov/collegepays. • Apply and be admitted by December 1 to be considered for scholarships. • Access tuition information at memphis.edu/tuition and financial aid information at memphis.edu/financialaid.
