MEET ADRIAN DOWELL “Greatness is the collective goal at UNO and I believe there is a strong foundation in place that we can build on together to achieve that goal. I couldn’t be more excited to get started.” - Adrian Dowell The University of Nebraska at Omaha announced that Adrian Dowell will serve as its next vice chancellor of athletics. Dowell will begin his duties effective Dec. 1, 2021. Dowell, who currently serves as the assistant vice president and associate athletic director for Creighton University athletics, was selected following a national search. “Adrian Dowell is a true Maverick,” Chancellor Joanne Li said. “He is a dynamic individual who inspires a winning attitude in others and has proven to be an transformational presence in Division I athletics. I am thrilled for our Omaha community to get to know Adrian and I look forward to celebrating the success our student-athletes will achieve a result of his leadership.” Dowell joined Creighton’s staff in 2014 as the Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Director for Development when he was tasked with the initial build and implementation of the Athletic Development Office. Since the development of the office, the Athletic Department has raised over $98 million in gift revenue supporting various strategic priorities. He previously served on the Mountaineer Athletic Club staff at West Virginia University. Dowell holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health & Human Performance—Sport Management from Roanoke College, where he was captain on the men’s basketball team, and earned a Master’s in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Sport Administration from West Virginia University in 2011. He is married to 2010 UNO Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Stephanie (Kirby) Dowell, and has three children: Lauren Grace, Paige, and Adrian III.

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT
CHEER ON THE MAVS: NEW ATHLETIC TICKETING PROCESS Attention all Mavericks: It’s time to get in the game! UNO students can attend Maverick Athletic events at no cost and bring a guest at a reduced ticket price. A new way for Mavericks to secure tickets to support UNO Athletic teams in person was recently rolled out – learn more below. STUDENTS
STUDENT COMPANION
• UNO students will need a MyMav Student Ticket Account or the Omaha Maverick Athletics App.
• Students can purchase one companion ticket for a guest to sit in the student section with them.
• Use your UNO email address and then once your account is created, you will have the option to select “Student Tickets” to claim and have access later for admission to the game.
• To retrieve a companion ticket, students will need to go to the Baxter Arena Box Office window no earlier than one hour prior to game time and show their MavCARD to request a student companion ticket.
• Student tickets can be claimed 72 hours (three days) before the scheduled event. • Check out this step-by-step guide on how to claim and manage tickets.
Through Maverick Student Employment, students are engaged in the critical work that helps keep our colleges, divisions, and departments operating at UNO! With jobs popping up all over campus for the Spring 2022 semester, there are numerous options for students interested in flexible scheduling, building connections, and developing new skills that will prepare them for their career. HOW TO APPLY
• Companion tickets are $10 for Hockey and $5 for Volleyball and Men’s and Women’s Basketball.
Students can find the right fit via Handshake, a career platform for browsing and applying for on-campus jobs. The student newsletter, the Bullseye, features information on student employment job fairs.
It’s not too early to line up a Summer 2022 job. Your student can get ahead of the game by applying to be an Orientation Leader. In this fun and active role, they’ll welcome future Mavs and their families to the university and gain valuable experience.
Search “Orientation Leader” on Handshake to find the job posting. Email questions to orientation@unomaha.edu.
