For Unopiù, to design and develop projects means to interpret the history and evolution of outdoor living in Italy and Europe, representing the stylistic soul and raw materials that have distinguished the company over the years. Being contemporary nowadays means understanding the project tensions of today while not forgetting that when we speak of rapport with outdoor areas, our roots and traditions must not be overlooked. It is for this reason that all of our collections are created with a precise DNA, consistent with the forty year plus history of the Company.

All Unopiù products are designed by qualified professionals from the Company’s Research and Development Department, or are signed by important designers who have collaborated with Unopiù over the years like Adam Tihany, Ferruccio Laviani, Meneghello Paolelli Associati, Michele Bönan, Paola Navone, Marco Acerbis, Matteo Thun, Andreucci & Hoisl, Carlo Martino, Studio Adolini, Marco Piva, etc... They are all famous designers and professionals in the field who have consistently interpreted the spirit of the Company with class and originality. Maintenance

MAINTENANCE

All UnopiĂš teak furniture is made for outdoor life and needs no particular maintenance. The wood surface is rich in oily resin which oxidizes when it comes into contact with the air, protecting the inner wood and giving the furniture a beautiful silver-grey hue. Should you wish to go back to the original orange color, suffice to wash and dry the piece and rub it with a cloth soaked in a few drops of teak oil.

Materials

MATERIALS

Today the fusion between outdoor and indoor style is more and more evident, although the outdoor product must seek and use materials with unique characteristics for outdoor durability. UnopiĂš materials are always chosen for their incomparable quality of resistance to all weather conditions, even the most extreme.

MATERIALS

Teak Teak wood is a material of excellence, famous all over the world for the warm beauty of its surface grain and its excellent physical characteristics. It is in fact a robust, waterproof wood, resistent to salty conditions and the elements. For its furniture production, Unopiù uses only the most valuable and durable teak from Indonesian forests, and only that considered the highest quality from the centre of the trunk. Quality and ecosustainability: Unopiù teak only comes from certified, guaranteed, controlled government plantations, where each tree cut is replaced by a new one.

Polished mahogany Sapelli mahogany is well known as a very solid, compact and easy to work material that for centuries has been used for fine furniture, luxury flooring and musical instruments. Its coloring has a strong visual impact and a grain interlaced with elegant shades from reds to dark browns that tend to darken over time. Even though it is naturally resistant to climatic conditions, the mahogany used by Unopiù is polished to bring out its elegance, making it pleasing to the touch and perfectly suited to even the most demanding uses.

Treated pine Unopiù strutures are made in top quality nordic pine. This wood is particularly resistant and durable since it comes from trees growing in cold climates that can efficiently undergo pressure treatment in autoclave to 10 atmospheres. The life of pressure treated quality wood is moreorless limitless, in that it is immune to insect attack, mould, fungus and the elements.

Iroko Iroko is a wood with numerous properties: besides its remarkable resistance to external stress and extreme conditions, it is characteristically manageable and easy to work. Its iridescent reflections are extraordinary. The chromatic nature of the younger wood varies from a strong yellow with shades of gold, to yellow brown, shades which tend to darken with age reaching an elegant final result with light-dark variagations. Commonly known as an “oily wood” due to its high resistance to water and humidity, iroko has excellent durability because its strength guarantees stability, solidity and resistance to distortion.

Synthetic cords Some years ago Unopiù introduced handwoven polyolefin cord, a modern ecological material that guarantees both high performance and resistance to extreme weather. It also has a warmer aesthetic compared to synthetic fibre, both physically and visibly bringing to mind the softness of natural cord. Handwoven polyolefin cord offers the characteristics of the very best natural textiles like softness, pleasantness to the touch, and is practical but also has the durability of synthetic textiles. It has a new aesthetic and functional role with infinite possibilities of color nuances and melanges that produce a product with fine details and a wonderful finish.

Leather The leather used by Unopiù is hand worked according to an ancient Tuscan tradition: “vegetable tanning” which transforms raw hides into leather through the use of tree tannins, respecting nature and giving the leather precious unique and natural characteristics. The natural capacity of leather to age and change over time makes each product an exclusive and unrepeatable item, a Made in Italy masterpiece that is particularly soft and silky to the touch, thanks to the characteristic “bottalatura” technique. The excellent hand stitching of Tuscan artisans completes the product design, incorporating precious design details.

Iron and stainless steel Unopiù iron furniture is handmade and hand forged, as in times past. With galvanization the iron is treated with a technically superior type of painting. More ecological, because it eliminates the volatile part of the paint made up of polluting solvents and thinners, more efficient because it gives stronger cover, as well as producing a more elegant finish. Stainless steel is a material with exceptional technical and aesthetic characteristics and is extraordinarily durable. The modern fascination for steel unites perfectly with its extreme versatility.

Aluminium Aluminium is one of the most used metals, thanks to the combination of its excellent properties, including lightness. It also guarantees good protection from corrosion and requires limited maintenance over the years.

Textiles Unopiù offers a vast range of textiles resistant to sunlight and adverse weather conditions: a wide range of 40 colors of different weights and finishes allowing the creation of infinite chromatic combinatons between seat, backrest and decorative cushions. These are 100% acrylic fabrics, solution dyed with stainproof and mouldproof fibres which stand out for their softness, freshness and pleasantness to the touch. Waterproof is a unique upholstery fabric composed of polypropoylene and polyester. It has a familiar, natural and elegant look thanks to its checked pattern. It is easy to clean with a machine wash or with bleach, permitting easy removal of mould thanks to ìts strong resistance and permeability to liquids. It has a stainproof and waterproof finish resistant to 15 intensive washes.

“Velluto” Unopiù’s new velvet fabric is a unique line created through research into recycled plastic by manufacturer Fishbaker. It is a noble, top of the range collection of cushionware on demand for sofas, armchairs and sunloungers in 14 different extremely elegant and refined shades. It is a true velvet to the touch, warm, delicate and soft to touch but in fact 70% of the thread used comes from PET recycled bottles. This is a top quality ecological product that is weather and light resistant, flameproof and suited to any environment, internal or external, both public and private.

MATERIALS

Synthetic fibres Unopiù patented WaProLace® fibre, a last generation synthetic material that is durable outdoors, maintaining its color and characteristics even under rainy, salty, chlorine, mould, parasite, fungal, bacterial and sun cream conditions. Biodegradable and recyclable, WaProLace® is light, tactile, doesn’t absorb liquids, doesn’t stain, is antistatic and easy to clean. It is also resistant to extreme winter conditions, as it is not affected by changes in temperature.

A coffee table whose design is clean and linear in graphite aluminium with teak slats that is perfectly suited to any outdoors. An ephemeral yet enchanting product that alone gives character to any environment and brings life to magic evenings or romantic encounters, thanks to the primordal magic of fire that becomes design in movement. The clean, odourless flame inserted in the centre of the table, thanks to an ethanol bowl protected by two glass panels, becomes the star of the scene. It is possible to substitute the brazier with a stainless steel bowl that creates an ice bucket, a flowerpot holder or an odds and ends container integrated within the table.

The Méridienne pergola is made in powder coated aluminium in white gloss or matt graphite and has adjustable (0° to 75°) aluminium louvre roofing called “Sun & Rain“. The orientation of the louvres, with a manual adjustment rod, allows the regulation of brightness, the passage of air and optimum protection from the rain. The structure can be widened by adding one or more standard modules of the same depth connected with the appropriate gutter connector kit. Roof must remain open in snowy conditions (louvres at 75°). The Méridienne pergola can be enhanced with Caprice side panels and planters or with grilles and planters from the Solaire range, creating a veritable modular system that is versatile and adaptable to any requirement.

SHIBUYAÂŽ

Shibuya is the first mobile pergola in the world. Thanks to its wheels it has revolutionized the very principle of the structure by introducing the concept of dynamism. It is composed of two cubic units that offer various levels of mobility and flexibility, adapting to any requirements. It is possible to purchase a fixed unit that can be anchored to the ground or a mobile one with four wheels, or two units (pergola plus extension) with six wheels. In the last case it is possible to extend and move the pergola wherever you might wish. The structure is in aluminium powder coated in matt white or matt graphite and has blockable pirouetting wheels. The mobile version has 10cm diameter wheels suited to any type of terrain. There are also blocking brackets for safety during high winds. The pergola can be completed with various types of roofing and can be enhanced with microperforated side blinds (40% polyester coated with 60% PVC) in hemp white.

VERSATILE PERGOLA, INTERLACING ELEMENTS The Solaire collection in powder coated galvanized iron recalls the traditional Italian and Mediterranean style of creating shade, “rooms” in the open, intimate areas, the decoration of outdoor environments. It is composed of a series of freestanding and attached pergolas, a classic pavilion and the roof garden system. It is totally versatile, offering possible “customized” areas to fulfill any furnishing wish or desire. Attached or freestanding Solaire pergolas are available with both flat or curved roofs and can be widened with 186 cm extension modules. Various types of roofing are available: fixed shade, roll shade and bamboo shade. The Solaire pavilion, complete with steel wire as support for climbing plants, is either round or octagonal. It too can be enhanced with grille panels.

THE FASCINATION OF TRADITION Tibisco is a line of dramatic pergolas and pavilions made in powder coated galvanized iron in graphite. The pergola has a decorated front beam and is available in attached and freestanding verions that can be extended. It comes in different depths and widths and can be enlarged with extension modules single 186 cm and double 372 cm. Proposed roofing: polycarbonate sheeting, fixed shade, sliding shade and bamboo shades. The pavilion, whose front beam is also decorated, found inspiration modelled on a structure from an ancient Cistertian monastery. The structure can be enhanced with spandrels and decorations at the base of the posts and with a waterproof white shade cover (39% polyester coated with 61% PVC).

Caprice allows the personalization of outdoor areas in a simple, functional and aesthetic way. Panels and planters of various dimension can be used alone or together with iron or aluminium pergolas. Caprice is in powder coated galvanized iron and is available in matt graphite or white gloss.

Each Caprice panel must be placed between two posts at a distance greater than 8.5 cm from the panel itself and fixed with the kit Ref. EFP4B or EFP4. 4 Aluminium Prestige couplings Ref. G55NCB (white) or G55NC (graphite) are needed to fix the Caprice planters to the posts making them 37, 109, 157 and 181 cm long and respectively compatible with 30, 102, 150 and 174 cm panels. The above articles refer to the cost of the relative additions and vary according to whether the greenhouse chosen has polycarbonate side panelling included or not. Orangerie greenhouses have stainless steel nuts and bolts. They come complete with transparent polycarbonate 6 mm thick roofing and can be ordered with or without the transparent 3 mm thick polycarbonate side panelling (should you desire glass). The door is a double door (110 x 202 cm) and the window (110 x 100 cm) is top hinged and both can be installed on either side. For Ref. SAU33P - SAU33 the temporary weight overload is 40 kg/m². For Ref. SAD32P - SAD32 - SAU34P - SAU34 - SAD42P - SAD42 the temporary weight overload is 20 kg/m².

Three models with central shaft are available in various sizes, shapes and colors. Two have a larger central shaft, one in handcrafted wood and one in aluminium, opening by means of a cord and pulley. Round, square and rectangular versions are available and have a galvanized steel base. The third model, either rectangular or round, has a lighter aluminium shaft, can be tilted and opens manually by means of a winch. In the round model the opening mechanism also works the tilt, the rectangular version is tilted by pressing a button on the shaft.

For years Manta, in plastic fabric for outdoors, has been the most practical and attractive solution for the creation of relaxing shady areas in the most diverse environments. Three models are available in hexagonal and rhomboidal shapes that are wind resistant to 50 km/hr. The posts are in treated nordic pine while the shades are in plastic fabric for outdoor use (39% polyester coated with 61% PVC) in white (hexagonal sail) or in 100% white acrylic fabric (rhomboidal sail).
