Smile- And the world will smile back at you… Jc. HGF. CA. Manoj Kumar M IPP, JCI Trichur You must have noted that when you meet some people for the first time, you feel like talking to them and with certain people you wish to run away from them. Smiling can be seen as a symbol of happiness or a sociability factor which gives a positive feeling to you as well as the receiver. People with easy smiles break into a grin effortlessly, and it usually makes those around them feel happy. A wholehearted smile will be naturally seen in the eyes. It's not something you can fake; when you're forced to smile for photos, your eyes don't smile. It's only when you smile from your heart it will reflect in your eyes. The eyes tell you if it is a genuine, warm smile. You are talking to person, and that person doesn’t look in your eyes, but keeps his eyes away from your face, what would be your feeling? You naturally would feel not to talk to that person, or you would feel that he/she is not interested in talking to you. If you want to have a friendly chat, be sure you look at them in their eyes with interest. If you can keep a small smile on your face, you would get more friends and you would be more socially acceptable. Also, probably the person receiving your smile might be having lots of problems and your smile would be the only thing positive he or she must have received on the day. So go out and smile, the world is beautiful. Have you been holding back your smile out of fear that what other people will think about you? Such a fear is baseless. Smiles attract attention, and it's the right kind of attention. Just think about how you feel about a person who is frowning and a person who is smiling – who tends to be the better looking? Of course, it will be the person with a good smile. “Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.” Mother Teresa

Indian Media : Is There Any Hope? – Presentation by Sidin Vadukut at Joys Palace on 20th February 2016

Jaycee Herald Contest February saw the most excitement we have seen in twelve hours for any activity we have had in JCI Trichur. It all started with a message on 15 th February 2016. The name for the upcoming JJ / Jayceerette Conference, which we will be hosting on 14 th August 2016 will be decided by our members by popular vote. Names were invited from members, initially till 28th February and an entire day of voting on 29th February. Members were also given the freedom to promote the names of their choice. It was a new concept for JCI Trichur – Elections tend to happen unanimously and the idea of promoting is long forgotten. The intent of this method of the name selection was to get everyone’s support and involvement in hosting the Conference. After discussion with the Conference Organizing Committee, the deadlines were preponed to 18th February noon and the voting was set to begin at 19 th February noon, with 24 hours of promotion. We had received 13 names till then, but with the shorter deadline, the names increased to 43. Manoj KV – Mazhavil

The COC decided to shortlist few names from these 43, to make it easier for everyone before promotions began. The COC selected four names and promotions began on 19th February. The selected names were: Blueblaze by Tony Emmatty Parijatham by Rani Jojo Daffodils by Swapna Manoj Petals by Sangeeths Sudhir Promotions began early on 19th. It was kicked off by Sudhir Achuthan promoting Petals and was immediately followed by Joseph Lal for Parijatham. Soon more members followed in and by noon everyone was ready to vote for their choice. The Rules were laid out and considering the fact it is after all a Conference for Jayceerettes and Junior Jaycees, voting was extended to them as well. Based on the suggestion by Editor Website Jc Joby CV, electoral form was prepared via Google Forms and link was shared among the members via whatsapp. Voting was scheduled till 9:00 PM.

By 4 o’clock, eleven members had voted. Blueblaze was the initial favorite. Three hours later, the votes had doubled and Blueblaze had extended its lead and it looked like the sure winner.

But it was also observed many of the Jayceerettes had not yet voted. On the request of Jayceerette Chairperson, voting deadline was extended till 11:00 PM. The extension of the deadline coincided with a bombardment of promotional activities by JCI Sen Sudhir Achuthan for Petals. At 7:00 PM, Blueblaze had secured 12 votes. Petals was straggling behind with only 8 votes. Parijatham and Daffodils was long forgotten at 2 votes and 1 vote respectively. But slowly, Petals trimmed down the lead. Votes were pouring in from both sides. By 9:00 PM, 41 votes had been counted. And it was all tied up. Blueblaze and Petals had 19 votes a piece, with Daffodils at 3. Parijatham had disappeared from the leaderboard. But night was still young, more and more votes came in. Members switched support. Jayceerettes and Junior Jaycees started pouring in their votes via SMS and it was going to be a fight to the finish. By ten, 51 votes were counted. The last vote was recorded at exact 11 o’clock.

In all 58 votes were received, 40 Jaycees, which included 12 ladies, 12 Jayceerettes and 6 Junior Jaycees voted. Members who initially voted for Parijatham and Daffodils switched their votes leaving a direct contest between Blueblaze and Petals. The winner received 33 votes and the runner up 25 votes.

‌.. and the Winner was Jc Dr. Sangeetha Sudhir for suggesting Petals 2016.
