It is written in blank verse. As the poet is driving away from her parents‘ home to go to the Cochin airport she becomes aware of how her mother has aged and is pained at the thought of losing her mother. The mother is dozing in the car and she looks almost like a corpse. To forget her unhappy thoughts, the poet looks outside the car and she sees trees which appear to sprint and young children who are playing excitedly. These are representative of energy and youth and are a direct contrast to her aging mother. The mother‘s pale face resembles a winter‘s moon.
