Shaftesbury Quakers (Society of Friends)

Candlelit Songs of Praise at Holnest Church

Holnest Church (DT9 5PU) welcomes you to a touch of romance on St Valentine’s eve with a love-themed ‘Candlelit Songs of Praise’ and a selection of readings at 6pm on Sunday, 13 February. Followed by drinks and nibbles. Covid restriction at the time, will be adhered to. This may require the wearing of masks inside the church. Coffee at St Gregory’s Church, Marnhull

You are invited to ‘Coffee, Cake and Company’, at St Gregory’s Church, Marnhull, every Thursday morning from 10am to 11am. Everyone is welcome, so why not come along and join us for delicious homemade cake, great coffee and a selection of teas. No charge! Coffee, Cake and Company started last year in response to the pandemic and has proved to be an enjoyable social opportunity. We look forward to seeing you there.

Tisbury Churches

The local churches of Tisbury arranged for an annual talk by Fr Nicholas King SJ, each on a Gospel. His fourth and final talk, on John’s Gospel, will take place on Saturday, February 19 in Tisbury’s Methodist Church (High Street, SP3 6HE). Coffee available from 11am, talk 1130am-1230pm. The talk is free but there will be a basket available for donations to cover expenses. (Queries via Fr Robert: 01747 870228)

Snowdrops at St Georges Church in Damerham

It’s time to visit the annual display of snowdrops growing in the ancient churchyard at St Georges Church in Damerham near Fordingbridge. The church and its grounds will be open on the weekend of February 12 and 13 from 12noon until 4pm each day. Inside the church there will be various stalls and refreshments.

Oragn recital at All Saints Church, Castle Cary,

An organ recital will be given by Malcolm Archer at All Saints Church, Castle Cary, on Friday February 25 at 7.30pm. Malcolm has had a distinguished career in church music which has taken him to the posts of Organist and Director of Music at three English cathedrals, For 11 years, he’s been Director of Chapel Music at Winchester College and for many years has Refreshments will be on sale before the concert and during the interval. Tickets cost £10 each and are available from Eventbrite via www. castlecaryallsaints.org. uk. They are also available locally from the Bailey Hill Bookshop and the Market House information office in Castle Cary.
