Fierce bidding at Clarke’s
Clarke’s Auctions at Semley saw some strong results in their bonanza three-day Christmas sale with fierce internet bidding from across the world. An ancient Egyptian carved carnelian and gold necklace sold to an extremely happy local lady for a shade under £10,000 including premium, a Chinese bronze heron head, believed to be from the Old Summer Palace in Beijing, fetched £4,600 including premium and a Garrard & Co. gold cigarette case with sapphire clasp fetching £5,500 including premium. At Acreman St Antiques Auction we have had a good response to our January 21 specialist jewellery and watches sale with 385 lots being auctioned. We are also able to include approximately 200 further lots of jewellery in our January 28 general antiques and collectors auction which also includes two consignments of militaria including a hand written letter on 10 Downing Street-headed note paper, dated 1942 and signed by Constantine Churchill. Also on offer is a collection of Moorcroft pottery and a large selection of garden pots and planters, furniture and garden ornaments all nicely weathered.
